Best Dragon Ball filler

Post by Piccolo Daimao » Thu Dec 24, 2009 9:04 am

What is the best Dragon Ball filler in your opinion?

I like Son Goku's fear of needles. I think it was a nice filler aspect to the series, and that was funny to see Son Goku, who had faced numerous dangerous villains, afraid of a needle.

How about rather than just asking the question, you start it off by offering up some of your own thoughts and why you think they affect the story or mean so much to you?

The reason I didn't voice my opinion at first was because I wanted to see others' opinions first before making my own decision on what I thought was the best (or what was close to the best).

That being said, I have now edited my post.

Well there are plenty of filler that I like, but the other Z warriors trying help Gohan in the beam struggle against Cell was a very nice and welcome addition. It was nice to see them do something and have their own thoughts about Goku and Gohan.
The funniest is probably Goku's and Piccolo's driving test.=D

I liked the "Wedding Saga". It was fun seeing Chichi on an adventure. :D

And most of the Gohan filler in the Saiyan arc.

Two of the best filler moments come from the original Dragon Ball in the Piccolo Daimao saga.

The first one is when Tenshinhan, along with Roshi and Chaotzu, go find the Dragon Balls and Tenshinhan has to face one of his former opponents to get the dragon ball. An opponent he disabled for life.

The other one is when Piccolo Daimao storms the king`s castle and that red haired girl from the Muscle Tower saga is there and she tries to headshot Piccolo Daimao with a rifle.

Also, Goku and Vegeta's adventure through Buu's bowels.

Oh, and of course, the Bug Planet, Arlia.

I adore the Gohan-robot episode.

Funniest would be when Goku, Kuririn and others are hanging out before the Cell Game, and Kuririn throws a rock at a napping Goku to test his Super Saiyan power or something like that, and it just hits Goku and he gets all mad.

Considering it's been over a decade since I last watched Dragonball Z episode 1, I have to say that I really enjoyed the sabertooth tiger filler. I laughed at the fact that he didn't want to eat Gohan, he just wanted his hat.

Goku's training for the 22nd Strongest. It gives off a very fun, adventurous feel. And some are funny.

I'd have to say those little moments in the 22nd Budokai with Ten's inner struggle. During the Z arcs, I like Yamucha vs. Olive and most of the wilderness training.

The Afterlife Budokai was pretty boss, if you ask me.
And Gohan's training filler in the Saiyan arc.

But my absolute favorite filler is...
DRAGONBALL GT!

The Wedding arc in Dragon Ball.
I like all of the filler in the original series(meaning not Z and GT) but that was my favorite.

The Wedding Arc was absurdly fun.
The training before the 23rd Budokai was awesome because you got to see Mutaito, and there was that weird fucking conversation in the dub about a squirrel named Poppy.

Most anything in Gohan surviving in the wilderness and just the general filler in the Saiyan arc. Not so much the ridiculous padding the first episode recieved, but from Raditz's defeat to the Saiyans' arrival.

I like Fake Namek.
I think I'm going to go watch Bulma and the Crab redubbed to see how I feel about that. (After my ridiculous attempt at figuring out why I like Fake Namek more than the Space Orphans, I think I can say I'd like "Bulma and the Crab" more if Gohan and Krillin were more involved. Heh.).

The 'Wedding Adventure' is awesome, and I kinda wish there'd been more like that with the Son Family into Z.

I like the filler after the 21st tournament leading into Red Ribbon stuff. Namu is awesome, and he gets a filler episode... ChiChi and Gyu-mao get a sub-plot involving Pilaf, all-around naivity in a fun way, and Colonel Silver being relatively smartelligent without making Gyu-Mao look incredibly worthless. And I think I generally like filler that involves current child protagonist(s) + additional child protagonist doing adventury things (Goku and ChiChi, Goku and bandit-kid (though they butt heads more than anything, hee), Goku and S'no... Gohan and Lyme? ).

And I guess the Ice-maze with Yajirobe was funmusing.

The best filler for me is the tournament saga that seems to be hated by most. Why? The matches are funny, and Paikuhan is awesome.

As with most, the driving episode, because it's hilarious. Also, I love the demon episode of the Pre-22nd Tenkaichi Budokai arc, simply because it's really fun and it introduces that really cool bit of mythology that is only seen once.

As for Filler added to canon stuff, a lot of the Gohan training eps like the Robot and the Dinosaur were cute and added to his character development, so I liked those.

As for whole arcs, the Anoyoichi Budokai was great, I thought it was really good.
