Lyrics of Rock the Dragon

Post by worldmonsters » Sat Dec 26, 2009 5:30 pm

Yeah, I know, it doesn't REALLY have lyrics apart from "Rock the Dragon". But... there is more, at least it seems like there are more lyrics to it. What I can hear is:

Dragon Ball Z, Ha
Dragon Dragon, rock the Dragon, Dragon Ball Z
Dragon Dragon, rock the Dragon something something something

What are they saying there? I really really can't make it out. Is there anyone who knows/cares?

I used to think that they sang "Cough, now cough with me!". I was 15 years old then, and I didn't understand why they would think that coughing would be something cool to put into a song.

And Pitzu, just for you being a douche I would like to answer your question: "Wo-orld, around the world around the world, around the-wo-orld...." and so on. :D

I never understood why they wanted the dragon to come get them. To eat them? I figure now it's like some kind of taunt to their invisible opponent.
It isn't much for lyrics. Needs more dinosaurs balancing on balls.

I've mostly tried to blot it from my mind, but I always thought the line was "Come fly with me", which at least made some sense.

I think the line "come get me" is off the subject of the dragon and they are just yelling it as a taunt for a battle. So the song pretty much sums up the show. There's dragons and fighting.

I pretty much don't like these US intros..... In Anime, there you hae some full actual songs. Yeah, nowadays it's almost all horrible pop single with no relation to the series itself, but it's lot better then for example:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Heroes in a half shell
Turtle power.

There the world's most fearsome fighting team,
(we're really hip)
they're heroes in a half shell and they're green.
(hey get a grip)
When the evil Shredder attacks,
Those turtle boys don't cut 'em no slack.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Splinter taught them to be ninja team,
(he's a radical rat)
Leonardo lead's, Donatello does machines.
(that's a fact jack)
Rapheal is cool but crude,
Rapheal: (give me a break)
Michaelangelo is a party dude.
Michaelangelo: (party)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Heroes in a half shell
Turtle power.

I AAAAAAM, Irooon Maaaan
I AAAAAAM, Irooon Maaaan

OR

Go, go Power Rangers!
Go, go Power Rangers!
Go, go Power Rangers! Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!

Go, go Power Rangers!
Go, go Power Rangers!Go, go Power Rangers! Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!

"Power Rangers Zeo"

Stronger than before! (Go Zeo!)
Powered up for more! (Go Zeo!)
Rangers at the core! (Zeo!)
Power Rangers!

Zeeee-ooooo

Higher they can soar! (Go Zeo!)
Fired up for more! (Go Zeo!)
Even out the score! (Zeo! Zeo!)

Go, go Power Rangers!
Go, go Power Rangers!
Go, go Power Rangers!
Zeo! Power Rangers!

Where are those stylish intros from 70's like Spider-man adn Batman?

..... o_O The old Turtles song and that totally metal Power Rangers theme (I'll admit the lines are plain, but the music was so genuinely rocking we didn't care) are actually two of the coolest intros I've ever heard man. They're infinitely cooler than one sentence repeated over and over.

Don't forget...
"Reed Richards is elastic!"
"Sue can fade from site!"
"Johnny is The Human Torch!"
"The Thing just loves to fight!"
"Call for four. Fantastic Four!"
"Fantastic Four!"
Sorry, I just had to do that.
As for the best Power Rangers' theme, that goes to...
"Goooo, Greeeen Raaanger.
"Go, Green Ranger! Go, go!"
"Goldar's gonna get yoouu tonight!"

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Just to put it out there, there is a full version of the MMPR theme song with multiple verses, so the chorus remains the same (Go! Go! Power Rangers) but there is more to it than Rock the Dragon.

And not to start shit but... "totally metal"? "Genuinely rocking"? Really? :|

*Yeah I'm sorry for that, I haven't forgotten what kind of forum I'm in, but even still...*
I guess tone doesn't really come across in text <_< It was suppose to be half joking. My brother had just shown me earlier that day a cover an actual band had done of the Power Rangers song and it was cool, so I was overloaded on nostalgia and overlooking the bad parts. I still stand by the badassery of the Turtles song completely though.

I remember the closed captions on the VHS had the lyrics as "Rockin' Dragon".

Not to mention "Rotten Dragon" and "Rock the Wagon" at various times.

Hey! You leave the Turtles out of this! That song is a classic example of a good US children's show opening! If you want to find a US show that has actual radio songs for openings, go watch Friends or Smallville or something. :P

Besides, it's not like all anime has some original radio song. The original Dragonball is basically a really long theme song explaining the premise and feel of the show! Also, you can't tell me that Cha-La Head Cha-La, as random as the lyrics are, wasn't made for DBZ. Then, with other anime, you have songs like the original MS Gundam theme that are even more guilty of explaining the show in song.

So, yeah, it's not like Japan isn't guilty of it, too.

Also notice he's from Eastern Europe. He might not know that American cartoon themes with lyrics have to do with the show's premise or whatnot. Pretty much the only US cartoon theme with lyrics that doesn't is "Overture (This is It)". If any of you guys aren't familiar here's Overture(This is It).

Yeah, linked to two versions but same song.
