Super Famicom Final Bout??

Post by Leotaku » Tue Mar 08, 2005 5:44 pm

I don't know if I've mentioned this before. I've posted it SOMEWHERE a long time ago, but doing a quick search, it doesn't seem like it was on THIS forum. Anyway...
Has anyone ever heard of DragonBall Z Final Bout for the Super Famicom (or maybe it was Super Nintendo)? I've seen this item on eBay a few times. It was a Super Nintendo cartridge, and the image had Cell on it, along with a few SSJs, and the background was in space I think. It read "Final Bout". I was wondering if anyone knew what this was. I tried finding a picture, but haven't had any luck yet. And I've never seen any information on this game. The only time I saw it was, like I said, on eBay.
I'm curious as to what it is, and why there's a lack of information on it. :?

There is a lack of information for this item because there is no information to be recorded. The only DragonBall related item that was entitled "Final Bout" is the Playstation game. What you saw may have been Dragon Ball Z 2 for the Super Famicom. By the way, if you could post a picture of this item then that would help.

www.superpope.com

Go there, it's the best database for all the old DB games. There is no such thing as a Final Bout for SNES, You must be thinking about the Super Butoden games. Or it could be a Hong Kong pirated game, I have seen Final Bouts for Gameboy Color on eBay... >_>

What's being referred to is actually a bootleg SNES game. The sprites were ripped from some of the other games, and I think it's even got SSF2 music playing at points.

I don't remember that well, but I think Namek mighta had something about it a long-ass time ago. That's all I've got for ya', though :/

That's right. I think Namek mentioned that this game ran on a Street Fighter engine and they definitely mentioned that the game had Street Fighter music. It was a Chinese bootleg by the way.

SonGokuGT: Thanks for the site. :D

VegettoEX: A bootleg?? I didn't know bootlegs of cartridge games were around. Shows how little I know.

Mike D: Street Fighter engine for DragonBall Z. I'm intrigued. :P
Actually, there's some MUGEN games that pretty much cover that.

Thanks, that's cleared up. It's a bootleg. No wonder I couldn't find any information on it. What's this "Namek" by the way? I take it it's a website.

"Planet Namek" was a large DragonBall fansite from 1999 to... uhh... 2001?

But yeah; it's entirely possible to make bootlegs on cartridge. I don't know the specifics behind it, but it can be done. Not really into that whole scene.

About that MUGEN. I have always had trouble downloading those things. I hate going off-topic but could you tell me a site where I can download it and I will actually be able to play it?

Actually, it was produced in Mexico and/or South & Central American countries. I myself have been looking for a copy of it.

I can get some images to show you, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow. The official title for it is "Dragon Ball Z Final Bout".
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

VegettoEX: Oh, PLANET Namek. I've heard of that. Didn't it die a long time ago? I don't think I ever got to visit it.

Mike D: MUGEN? I dunno, I haven't tried that thing out for years ever since I started using Game Maker successfully (as in, finally finishing games with it :D). The creator site, Elecbyte.com, seems to be gone. But doing a quick search, you can still get it here, and many other places, I'm sure.

I think it runs on DOS. If you still can't run it or have problems with it, you can ask me, but I really don't know if I can help. Like I said, I haven't used it for a long time.

The S: Alrighty. Thanks, I'd be curious to see some images if you have them.

There's a WINMugen.

Runs really well.

Of course it's a hack of Linux MUGEN.

Still I like it.

I mean...look at my name, how could you NOT take my word for it?

P.S. I helped hook up Laserkid so I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help anyone here who wants it.

Yup, cartrige bootlegs are indeed possible. Ever heard of the "50 in 1" games back in the NES days?

Here's one that got a lot of attention. A Smurfs game with Pikachu and other Pokemon sprites replacing the originals. It was called "Pocket Mosters Go! Go! Go!" Anyone remember it?

The S: Yep. That second cartridge is the one I saw on eBay. Thanks for the images, I was curious to see how it looked. Kinda curious as to how they play, too. But then again, I don't even have my SNES anymore. My brother took it when he moved out. Still have the PS1 and PS2 though.

Mugenmidget: Really? I didn't know that. But, I pretty much lost interest in MUGEN when they moved to Linux. Plus, I never did make anything with it. Seemed too complicated to truly make your own custom game. After I made a game with Game Maker, which was my first ever, I stuck with that program ever since. 4 games and 2 demos finished so far. Yay!

SonGokuGT: 50 in 1 games? Can't say I HAVE heard of them. What system was that Pokemon game on? I'm not a fan of Pokemon, but just wondering.

"Pokemon Go Go Go" was on Gameboy.... I remember playing it at my friends house.... ther were a bunch of pokemon in the opening credits, when you saw them you could see their names... they were all correct exept for "Seaking" who they called "Neptune", the title screen was a screencap from "Pikachu's Vacation"

Well I wouldn't know anything. I don't look into...you know...illegal stuff.

Ha. I just noticed. Look at the last screenshot The S posted. Piccolo doesn't have a shadow, while Gohan does.

Oh. And I found a bit of info here:

I have some Japanese (yes, it wasn't just Mexico that got a release) box art (they had two variations, one was actually an original and was drawn professinally by some one, the other is a a pisspoor copy-and-paste job) as well as a few screenshots. There are only 8 characters in it too, Pan and Freeza were dropped and Kid Buu was replaced with Majin Buu. I'll try and post them soon.

BTW, does anyone have the ROM? I'm extremely tempted to play this game.
