Unexpected Dragon Ball/Z/GT Experiences!

Post by LilKokuLink » Sun Jan 17, 2010 11:46 am

Hey, well I made this thread because I want to know all those moments in time when you were walking along minding your own business and all of a sudden you see or hear something related to Dragon Ball, and you get that indescribable feeling making you want to shout out in public... "HEY! I'M A DRAGON BALL FAN!" Being such a huge franchise, I'm sure most of you have come across something of the sort and have experienced that feeling you get when this happens. Here are some of mine:

- I went to my local internet cafe with my friend, they were doing this foreign songs theme day. And then Hitori Janai came on and I shouted out "Dragon Ball GT Ending!" by accident and everyone looked at me, and my friend walked away.
- There was a school raffle, and there was only a few little prizes left so whoevers ticket was picked, they would come up and choose which prize they wanted. Lucky, my ticket was picked! Woo! There were two prizes left, one which was a Dragon Ball Z pencil case, and the other was two tickets to a theme park. Yeah... I picked the pencil case lmao. I didn't know though! It looked like book tokens to me!
- And my last one, it isn't that good but meh. I was at the dentist, and a guy with a Dragon Ball Z t-shirt walked in and sat down next to me. I was urging my self to say, man I fucking love your t-shirt I'm a DBZ fan too! But I never did lol.

Share me your ones!

I'm not kidding!! I kept saying "Over Nine Thousand" for at least 15 minutes!! My younger brother... scored better than me...?! and with a famous number!!

Sad... isn't it...?

Well, last (school) year/Freshman year (Sophomore now), I had a World History teacher whose last name is Misenko. So, anytime I hear his last name I think Masenko in my head.

Well this year I was called a nerd by a huge nerd in my school (strange ain't it?) so I thought it was hopeless to find anyone who like Dragon Ball as much as me. But then I met a dude in gym class and I decided to eat lunch at his table. He had tons of DBZ drawings in his note book (mostly Buu.) so now I have someone to talk about Dragon Ball and they actually know what I'm talking about.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Well, this kinda happened me 2 days ago, i was minding my own business at school when some kid starts singing the Dragonball Gt Portuguese Dub Theme Song.
Since i was getting tired of his singing skills, I started preaching him about choosing other songs to present me like "Blue Velvet" or " Zenkai power".
Thank god that my phone rang because there was a strange audience gathering around me!

I'm old compared to many of the people on this forum (well, if you consider 24 to be old, which I do), but I remember this art class I took in high school. One of the projects was to take a picture or printout and make an animation cel of it by tracing and painting it. I did a cel of Majin Vegeta's closeup after destroying most of the stadium during the Buu Saga. It was surprising that (a) many people knew who Vegeta was, and (b) there were a lot of DBZ fans in the class. That said, I was in high school when DBZ was arguably at the height of its popularity domestically, so I guess it's not that surprising.

At least it was a dub of Dan Dan. Could be worse; he could have been singing the portuguese Z opening :P

Back in elementary school, it was the day of the tryouts for Track & Field and I was participating in the 100 Meter Dash.

I and the other participants lined up at the starting point, stretching and getting ready till the race started. Then the person next to me tells his friend "Hey Jeff, lets power up!", they then take on the infamous DBZ constipation pose. I mean I was a DBZ fan too back then, but I never took it to that level. I glanced at them awkwardly and in my mind was just cracking up; as if it would actually make a difference in the race... which obviously it didn't.

A few years back when I was at school (I'm 22 now) It was a regular "thing" for our entire maths class to play up to the nasty teacher that we had tutor us. Our class was small, so we would all get sent outside one by one for doing stupid things. One of my close friends decided to sing loudly "Old Mcdonald had a farm" re-inacting all the animal noises. - He got sent out. So to join him as he looked lonely, I decided to stand up and yell... "It's over 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I guessed from the shouts and people repeating it's over 9000! a couple of them must have watched Dragonball z :P - I was out like a shot.

I look back now and can laugh at my school years! :P And yes... I got into college! :P
"Ok, use your instincts Kakarott. Right or Left? (Hmmm... I'd have to say... left.) Good. Then I'm going right!" (Vegeta to Goku as they try to find their way to free the others inside Buu - Episode: The Innards of Buu)

While I was in the computer room at my school, I spotted a Dragon Ball Z pencil case near one of the other computers and I totally wanted to go past it and say OMG DBZ or something like that but luckily I didn't because I would have been severly laughed at.

Last year I worked in a group in a project, and out of boredom a classmate of mine decided to show me her wallpaper. It was a DragonBall Z wallpaper!! I said, "Woah, you like DBZ? Me too!" She even had a Muten Roshi keychain. Sweeet. After that I showed her my site but... I think I appeared to be too much of a DBZ geek for her liking. XD

Also, I was in the cafeteria of our school one day and I heard some guys at a couple of tables back watching DBZ Abridged. Meh, I wanted to join them! But I didn't.

When we were 10 years old with my friend from elementary school, we were trying to change into Super Saiyan on top of the hill in stormy weather.....

At the last convention I went to, this little girl was yelling "Kamehameha!" and throwing a balloon from her hands, complete with accurate gestures. Maybe she'd just come from the Kamehameha Contest they have. Aww.

Lol haha yea, I always wanted someone to talk about Dragon Ball with. A few weeks ago, I had to draw a robot for philsophy, so I drew android 16, and then a girl saw it and she said OMG YOU LIKE DBZ?! And now we're best friends for life... lol.

You know, you have full head of DB series and that can be pretty annoying sometimes and contraproductive.

I'm only asking, because I don't know much people here since I'm here for a quite long time.

Aside: Damn, in Hungary is Dragon Ball series officialy banned for TV broadcast because of kids that tried to learn bukujutsu from top of the buildings..... That's one fo the reasons why is DB not aired in my country, because channel A+ was converted to Animax 4 years ago and we are sharing the same rights on TV shows with Hungary......
