It might be just because of the long break. I'm sure once this season gets rolling things may be different.

Did you blow a funny fuse or what?

You do know that is a medical emergency and should be treated ASAP. ; )

I can see what he means. I didn't really laugh, but I did find it humorous, if you get what I mean. And I certainly did enjoy it. It just wasn't laugh out-loud funny. I think the real issue is that this episode was mostly second-tier, comedy characters, aside from Popo, and he was was the primary source of the humor that was present.

To be fair, this episode really had to get the story set up again. You can't really do Nonstop Laugh Out Loud Nappa-Style Humor (patent pending) when starting up a new arc. You've got to build up to that point. I actually thoroughly enjoyed this episode. It set our heroes up nicely in a mere 7:42. Now if only we knew what's going on with everyone's favorite Arlian prison bitch...

You know, I can't believe I
never even questioned before why the hell Popo didn't take Goku to the battlefield when he came back from the other realm.
I mean, if Baba can later on bring Vegeta nearby Majin Boo, Popo could take Goku to the Saiyans.
But regardless, I had a good few laughs with this episode. The Popo jokes are great. And with Goku...y'know, now that I think about it...this might explain his dislike for hospitals in GT!

Agreed, I never questioned that either!

And what makes it worse is that when Kami died, mr. Popo was really sad :S He could've saved Kami if he brought Goku back before Nappa had killed Piccolo. Oh well.

I've already made this clear elsewhere but the Popo stuff wasn't quite working for me in this time. I feel the character is a bit too one-note so I'm going to enjoy the dissapearence of the character and Nappa for the time being. I'm much more interested in the others.
Smite down the heathen!! :p

I guess I am just a sucker for gimmicks because I will miss the likes of Mr. Popo and Nappa. Especially Nappa since he is dead . . . although really he is at his best in DBZ Abridged with Vegeta as the straight man. Anywho, I too am interested in the other characters as well and Namek will have plenty of new ones to parody. I am looking forward to what Team Four Star does with Kui, the Nameks and of course the Ginyu Force.

But that's the thing, the original characters are more or less one note characters.
Popo doesn't really do much besides tend to Kami's palace and stick by his side. Whereas all Nappa's got goin' in his head is "I'm going to kill these runts. How should I kill them? And how much fun can I get out of it?"

I'm not really sure... though I do know I actually chuckled at "cinnamon buns" but that's about it. I'm a picky customer who doesn't like completely random humor but also doesn't like occasional humor interspersed in a plot.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Didn't think much of the episode itself, but the new intro looks great. You seem to have gone through and picked all the quality drawn scenes for it and all the aura bursts looked cool.

Yeah the new intro is sweet . . . I love how every saga there is it's own intro.
On another matter, I still don't get what was so horrible about Mr. Popo feeding his birds . . . unless they where actually his demon minions who had a cameo in a well known Alfred Hitchcock film.

My friends and I found Episode 11 laugh-out-loud funny. I also like how the humor itself is a little different than the humor from the first season. It's still the same "brand" but there was a lot of jokes that had a very similar set-up and punchline in Season 1. Luckily, it was funny all through Season 1. If it stayed the same through Season 2 it might've gotten stale.
Now that I think about it, I found the slight shift in the Bardock Special, too.

"Moon-language" annoyed me the first time I heard it (oddly enough, it was brought up when I was random-commenting in Korean and French... neither of which are Japanese...). Actually, that ruined the "Toilet speaks Japanese" joke, haha.
Goku's dramatic reaction to Popo = awesome.
... "Makin' Toast"~! Actually... the only thing about that which annoys me is that it makes the random scene my cousin and I recorded over the summer look like an immitation.

. *grumbles about camera malfunctions*.
... I think I want toast, now. With butter.

"Moonspeak" is slang for "Japanese language," though. It's not like it was just random mumbling...
