What episode aired on your birthday? Chibi episode review.

Post by KillerCory » Wed Feb 03, 2010 12:17 am

What Dragonball/Z/GT episode aired on your birthday?

*if you prefer the dub then feel free to use a dub episode that aired on your birthday

April 11th, 1990 (5 years old)

On this day I got Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on NES. I loved it..until I got to the water stage!! Damn you seaweed!!

Dragonball Z Episode 43: The Dragon Balls are found! Piccolo-san will also come back to life

Sigh, a filler episode, and not a pretty one. Many people dislike the Fake Namek filler arc and I can understand why. But this episode did have a few cool things!

1. We got to see Bulma, Gohan, and Kuririn ride on ice...
2. Goku hurts himself while training with pyramids
3. The Fake Namek arc takes a surprising turn! We learn that it is ...a fake Namek...
4. Gasp! Non-filler!! We meet Vegeta's rival Kewie and learn that Freeza is already searching for the Dragonballs on Namek! The race begins!
5.? This is the first episode on Dragonbox Z Vol.2 so many of you will be watching this episode soon.

My overall episode grade: C-

So what episode aired on your birthday?
Goku: "Look Vegeta! People popcorn!"
Vegeta: "What is he on?"

I was born before Toriyama even conceived the series.

Well, on my 9th birthday, Vegeta fought Recoome in episode 64. Surprisingly, no other episodes in either series aired on any of my birthdays.

Damn that's awesome. My birthday is June 16th... why couldn't I have been born 3 days later

I kinda wanted to see the dates as the Dragon Boxes came out, but since someone made a thread I guess it doesn't matter. I might as well post before it's too late lol.

Episodes:
Birthday/Airdate: June 16, 1993 (4 Years old)

Episode: Dragonball Z - Episode 189 (188 on Funi's website?) - ""Daylight Nightmare!! Terrifying Re-perfection" / "Cell Returns!"
-I don't know episodes by heart (yet) so I check Funimation's site to see what this one's all about and... Ha! Cell's deus ex machina return! His nucleus survives and he regenerates from it alone. All leading up to his epic demise. I remember this episode and was like "Holy shit! No way!" I can't wait for the Dragon Box release of the Cell Games to see this sucker in Japanese.

Grade: A

Chapters:
Birthday/Printdate: June 16, 1986 (I wasn't even a thought yet, I'm sure)

Chapter: Dragonball #77 - Weekly Jump Issue #27 - "Blue's Shining Eyes/Hikaru Buruu no Me"
-I checked a lot of other things, and this is the only other Dragonball related thing I can find that falls on my birthday, even though I wasn't born yet lol. I haven't seen or read this chapter/episode. But it sounds like something that could be very enjoyable, with what sounds like a nice balance of comedy and action. And then it has Bulma trying to flirt with Blue, which has got to be a memorable part of the series for sure.

Image

Grade: idk :D

My brother has an episode, a chapter, and a Daizenshuu to his birthday. August 18, 1993 (a year before he was born) episode 197 "Hold that breath! The Goku Hurricane" / "Water Fight." Chapter #86 - "Tao Pai Pai's Sure-to-Kill Dodonpa" WJ Issue #36 in 1986. And finally "Supplemental Daizenshuu ~ TV Animation Part 3" in 1996. I'm not sure what that one is... and Kanzentai doesn't have a translation for it yet, and Daizex doesn't have any info on the Daizenshuu? At least I can't find anything...

As for anything else...
No DB episodes, no GT episodes, no video games, no CD release, no DVD releases, and no manga volume releases. I skipped breakfast to check all of this crap, and now I'm hungry lmao.

Thank you BigMomma for the format. :D

DragonBall: Nothing.
DragonBall Z: Nothing.
DragonBall GT: Nothing.
Manga: No manga volume was released on my birthday.
Movies: No movies premiered on my birthday.

My birthdate sucks!! It's April 7th, by the way. I think that's when DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION premiered here. Gah!!!

*goes looking for the release dates of English episodes*

Hm, according to ANN episode 180 (The End of the Desperate Struggle. Goku's Surrender!!!) was aired on my birthday. Weird, I didn't see this on Kanzentai. 1993... I think I turned 6 that day ^^.
Hey, this is interesting. Also according to ANN the very last episode of DBZ aired in the US on my birthday (276. Goku's Next Journey), april 7th 2003! I turned 16 that day. (Haha, exactly 10 years later than the previous date).

The episode closest to the day I was born is episode 35 of the original Dragon Ball ("Cold Reception" "Kita no Shōjo Suno" (北の少女スノ) October 22, 1986).

But the only episodes that were actually aired in my birthday all those years were Episode 84 of the original Dragon Ball ("Rivals and Arrivals" Mezase Budō Tenka-ichi!!" (めざせ武道天下一!!) October 21, 1987) and Episode 161 of the original Dragon Ball Z ("Vegeta Must Pay" / "Vegeta Must Pay"
"Sūpā Bejīta Ayaushi!! Kanzen Muketsu no Kyōfu ga Semaru!!" (超ベジータ危うし!! 完全無欠の恐怖が迫る!!) October 21, 1992).

To check the dates:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dr ... Z_episodes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dr ... l_episodes

I didn`t check DBGT, kai or the english release dates.

The original airing of that episode was the day before my birthday, as in date of birth.

I was born on July 4th, 1985. This is before the anime even began airing on tv, and only one episode was aired on July 4th during the entire run. It was Dragon Ball Z episode 54: Kibou no Hoshi o Mamore!! Kuririn Kyoui no Pawaa Appu / Defend the Planet of Hope!! Krillin's Astonishing Power-Up.

Not a single episode of DB or Z, in Japanese or English, premiered on birthday.

One or two in Japanese came close, but the show was always pre-empted for something or other.

Episode: Dragon Ball Z - Episode 241 - ""The Whole World's Ordered to find them..."
-If memory serves me right, this should be the episode soon after Goku leaves earth and Babidi sends an entire message to the people of earth to find Goten, Trunks, and Piccolo. And Trunks has to go get the Dragon Radar.

Grade: B-(I don't really remember it, though. :P )

Episode 23 of GT aired on August 28th, 1996 on my 5th birthday.

"Hidden Crisis!? The Derelict Ship and the Mysterious Boy"

I remember that episode sucking, but it's been years since I've seen it, and that was dubbed. NO STARS!
