Let's see... August 7th.

Dragon Ball: None.
Dragon Ball Z: "Hey, Let's Do This, To the End!! The Two Left Behind on the Planet That's Going to Vanish" / "Duel on a Vanishing Planet" - Japanese airdate.
Dragon Ball GT: "A Secret Revealed" / "What is this!! Son Goku is Turned to Metal" - Japanese airdate.
"17 Times 2" / "The Ultimate Android! The Two #17s Unite" - English Airdate.

Meh...

What the hell? The day BEFORE I was born, Chapter 359 was released.
The FUNimation dub episode of #34 of original Dragon Ball was aired on my tenth birthday on Cartoon Network. Good episode. Recently watched it in Japanese. Colonel Silver gets owned.

The 36th episode of Dragon Ball Z (Japanese) aired two years before I was born and the second episode of DBGT aired on my 4th birthday. However, on my 18th birthday, they are airing the 44th episode of Dragon Ball Kai. That's rather nice :D

Birthday: March 2nd, 1994

March 2, 1988
"Tambourine Attacks!"

March 2, 1994
"A Sneaky plan! Gohan's power gets stolen" / "Energy Drain"
"Ugomeku Inbō!! Gohan no Pawā ga Ubawareta" (うごめく陰謀!!悟飯の力が奪われた)

Ironically this is probably my least favorite episode in the entire series. I was never really a fan of the Supreme Kai giving Babidi all that free energy.

For Dragonball, "Prelude to Vengeance" aired on my 13th birhtday in the US and that is it. Not one episode of Dragonball airs on September 29th in Japan.

For DBZ, "Attack, Goku!! An Enraged Frieza's Second Transformation" / "Frieza's Second Transformation" Aired in the US on my 9th birthday. It's the only non filler episode of Z to hit my birthday.

No episodes aired on my birthday for GT.

August 1:

DBZ Episode 56, "An Enormous Battle Power!! Freeza's Strategy Shattered"

Vegeta jacks the Dragon Balls from Freeza's ship. He detects Kuririn and goes after him, cornering him and Bulma. Zarbon arrives, Bulma acts like a slut. Zarbon transforms, and engages in battle with Vegeta.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

The only time it was scheduled to air on one of my birthdays, it was suspended for a soccer relay... Fuck...

Uh... This is probably the closest one to my actual birthday.

Dragon Ball Z
Episode 057 – August 8, 1990
元気が戻ったぞ!!100倍超重力の中の悟空
Genki ga Modotta zo!! Hyakubai Choujuuryoku no Naka no Gokuu
I'm Back to My Old Self Again!!
Goku Takes on 100 Times Gravity

As a kid, back in the Saban infested, Ocean group voiced days of Dragon Ball Z, this was one of the earlier episodes I had seen, and was also one of my favorites.

This is the only Dragon Ball episode that was on my birth date, but it preempted my birth by 2 years!

Dragon Ball

Episode 122 – August 10, 1988
最後の賭け!!
Saigo no Kake!!
The Final Gamble!!

The episode where Goku defeats Demon King Piccolo! Too bad I wasn't born yet!

Shit, I actually have one! :P

DBZ 41 - Kind-Hearted Aliens - There's the Wu Xing Qui Ball Already

Aired March 21st, 1990, 2 days after the day I was born. (Got the name and date from Dragonbox Z Volume 1)

Is there a definitive database for when all the DB/Z/GT episodes aired?
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

For the dates, check Kanzentai's episode guide, or Wikipedia's "List of Dragonball episodes" pages. The Wikipedia one has US airdates too, but I'm not sure if it's accurate of course.

Kunzait_83 wrote:So let's see, my birthday in ‘91… oh dear. Of all birthdays.

It was the first, last, and only time that I ever invited my entire class (it was 2nd grade that year, so I had to have just turned 8 ) to celebrate my birthday with an afternoon at one of the larger McDonalds. We uh… basically trashed the entire joint. I mean trashed it. I certainly don’t remember who started it or why or how, all I know is that a gigantic food fight was had, and by the end of it all the whole damn place was covered wall to wall with food and garbage. It wasn’t a pretty sight. But I'd be lying if I said it wasn't fun. :P

If I remember right, I got a bunch of NES games and TMNT Mirage comics, all of which luckily and miraculously survived the food fight totally intact.

So November 20th 1991. Kuririn gets dumped, my class and I destroy a McDonalds. Fun.
NES games and a birthday party at McDonalds? That story is so 80s. Even if takes place during 1991.

Awesome birthday party, though. My 8th birthday (August 1st, 1995) was kind of bland. I just got some Sega Genesis games, none of them very good. What kind of birthday present is Batman & Robin? That was back in the days before we had Internet, so every videogame purchase we made was just a crapshoot, and man did we end up getting some crap.

Anyway, as you've probably worked out by now if you're capable of basic math, I was born August 1st 1987. The only release on August 1st was episode 54 of Dragon Ball Z, some random Freeza episode that isn't particularly distinctive, so I will go with two episodes that aired on August 2nd (It might have been August 1 in the States, just for an added bonus, though I don't care either way). The Princess Snake episode on August 1st 1989, and that episode where Goku and Vegeta wander Buu's insides on August 2nd 1995. The Princess Snake episode's a good one, I love the Saiyan Saga filler and this is absolutely no exception, but I appreciate it more because... well, let me list the ages that my family and grandparents were at during my second birthday.

Papa Lloyd: 71
Grandmother Slonecker: 65
Grandmother Rabon: 66
Papa Bill: 55
Daddy: 40
Mama: 37
Stephanie: 13
Ginny: 11
Brian: 9
Katie: 7

Turning the clock backwards two decades means a lot of things change. Papa Lloyd was not a 91 year old confined to a wheelchair with Stage 6 Alzheimers but a very healthy man capable of driving himself to the hospital after a heart attack (And this wasn't for several years more; he was 76 whenever the heart attack struck). The grandmothers were at a much more comfortable spot in their golden years, the ascension to senior citizen status a recent memory. My parents were both still young, and my older siblings hadn't scattered to the winds thanks to their adult lives. Hell, none of them would even be able to drive until 1993. The Princess Snake episode takes me back to that time, a time of comfort and stability before the immediate family started to drift apart somewhat and when even the old folks weren't that old (This is a charm of watching Dragon Ball period, actually; the nostalgia factor).

As for the Buu's insides episode, I don't remember much about it. Can't be too great, though, if it debuted at my 8th birthday. Did I mention that birthday was actually postponed for some reason, and we celebrated things on August 2nd? What a crappy birthday.

Dragonball episode #51: "The Sea Floor Guardsman" aired at my first birthday, February 18th 1987.

This is one of those episodes that tend to go mostly ignored, but I've always liked this one. The robot isn't exactly brimming with personality, but he's a pretty strong opponent for Goku to face for a change, and we get a good and nicely paced battle out of it.

Weekly Jump 9/91, with Dragonball Chapter #311: "Physical Battle", came out on my 5th birthday, February 18th 1991.

It's the chapter where Freeza fight Goku without using his hands, and Goku bites Freeza's tail, one of the most memorable throwaway moments of their battle. Still, it's one of those chapters that leaves you with the feeling "well, that was cool, but nothing really happened, and now I have to wait another week". Were you to jump straight from chapter 310 to 312, you wouldn't even think anything was missing between them.

(can't remember anything from these birthdays, really, but I assume I spent the first one sleeping and being unaware of what a birthday was, and had a bunch of neighbor kids and kindergarten friends over for a generic children's birthday party for the second.)
