Yes, got it! InoShikaCho originates from a Japanese card game known as Hanafuda. This Naruto site has information on it. http://narutofever.com/information/card-game.php

Also, take a look at Filler Inoshikacho - http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/InoShikaCho
And then there's the various hints in Naruto.

That's awesome. 8) I have been proven wrong! But there's still a possibility that, even though the combination represents the characters and their naming, Kishimoto may have also used the combination and pun because it was in the anime. I'm just saying, the same reference in two series, the second being influenced by the first leaves room for questioning. :P Though now it's obvious it's not a blatant ripoff lol.

I don't suppose any other manga or anime has used some type of naming combination from Hanafuda, have they? If it's an ongoing thing, then it could be purely coincidental.

(Ooooh, that site has ramen recipes! Win.)

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Whoa, Kunzait....I didn't recognize you with that non-gory avatar. :P

But, as stated earlier, it'd probably be easier to find a manga-ka NOT inspired by DragonBall.
