I mean, Sabat even said that the new Bulma sounds "JUST" like the old one, "only better!" Also, I'm sure the new Gohan will be better, but not drastically different.

As disappointing as this may be to me, it shouldn't upset fans of the current dub. I'm confused.

It's change. I'm sure Ocean fans were upset to see a cast change during season 3. It's basically the same concept. I think it is dumb to protest something different without even sampling it first, but Penguintruth has a point. This is the internet, people will make a big stink of things, form protests and denounce their fandom, but come release day they'll be the first ones in line. Want proof, look at L4D2.

Reminds me of a statement I recently read online about the Kai dub cast:

"HOW COULD THEY! D: Colleen Clinkenbeard as Gohan and Monica Rial as Bulma?!?! FUCK YOU DB KAI! FUCK YOU!! ='("

I remember being mad when the Ocean Group was dropped in favor of a local in-house cast so statements like the above really tickle me. It's not that I enjoy others' pain or anything, but it's funny when people who like the in-house FUNi cast look at us old guys like we're crazy for liking Ocean Group and then I turn around and read something like this.

Really bummed that Freeza didn't get recast but if they pull off a straight enough script then it might not be intolerable.

What's the deal with hating Frieza's US voice actor? Its not like they were trying to MATCH the voice.

It gives him a distinct and standout voice.

This is not the thread for this. And, personally, I think you know very well why people have a problem with it.

Damnit! Linda Young confirmed for Freeza... Fuck, FUNimation Why?! Why must you ALWAYS make decisions that screw up any English version of Dragon Ball you do?!
You already have dubbies swearing off of Kai for replacing Gohan, you might as well cater to the fans who have been holding out or a serious dub and recast the worst voice choice you've ever made!

Oh well, I'll try out the Saiyan arc then, I'll watch Freeza in Japanese, but I'll check out the Saiyan arc.

keeping Linda Young ensures I'm not going to bother with the dub whatsoever in the Freeza Saga, so much for enjoying my favorite arc in english :/

Not sure if this is worth its own thread, but here's the teaser they showed at Katsucon. Spoiler: there's a KameHame-Ha in it.

It sounds like his voice is breaking up there.

EDIT: During the second "me."

Yikes. Let's hope he does better than that in the show.

At least he doesn't sound like a dying snake like Nozawa does in Kai... (Of course it's obviously due to her age, but still. I wasn't the only person to notice it either.)

Sounded like a guy who isn't Goku yelling.

She's still infinitely better.

What do you mean? It sounds like a voice should sound when shouting. It's not like Nozawa is any more harmonious when yelling Kamehameha, she's just higher because her voice for Goku is higher in general.

That's it? Ohhhh I want more. Why are people making a stink about the yelling? It's fine. Some people are just too picky.

See I don't like comments like these because I believe you should at least give something a chance before casting it aside. She may not be the best Freeza in the world but I think with the right direction she can pull the voice off nicely. I believe you should wait till AFTER her performance before judging what could be a nice performance. Sure her past performance from ten years ago wasn't great but then again that's ten years ago. Funimation has changed, and I don't think we should cast judgment until we actually get a taste of the new Kai.

Because people don't yell or grunt when strained; they make a KKKKKKKCCCKCHHCCKKYEEEKKKKKUAAAHH!!!? sound.

It's not just for "gathering ki" either; Zelgadiss did that once in the Japanese version of Slayers when he got pissed off, so yeah. I do that when I get pissed off or when I'm bench pressing weights, so I can vouch that people naturally do that in real life.

Oh well, at least he doesn't say "WEEEEEEEE" like they do in the Thai dub. :P

Here's a good question: will this recast be carried into other future dubbing of dragon ball media? If they do decide to dub 'Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return' or 'Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans,' will they use the new dubbing cast from Kai??
