Re: Valentines Day Cards
I believe it's her I'm thinking of, though I might be mixing her up with another big-name artist (haven't been to DA in a long time, not going back anytime soon.. personal issues.) The one I'm thinking of who was a well known name used to draw a bunch of different stuff, but in more recent times just draw Goku/Vegeta mpreg and some fanchar with a sexied-up Buu. It befuddled me and I wandered off. Has a penchant for really rounded ends to her pointed ears.Scarz wrote:You mean Allymcbeal18 on Deviantart? Her and I use to chat a lot a few years ago. And when I say chat, I mean argue about almost anything DB related, mostly Goku's character vs. Vegeta's. I'm even making a fancomic about one of her OC's (which I've been sitting on top of, admittedly).Velasa wrote:I've known her name from fandom for years, so it never occurred to me really. I think she only draws weird crap anymore though.
My apologies to Ally if I'm getting her mixed up with someone else. If I'm not, I have nothing against her personally, just don't have any interest in her new stuff.

Re: Valentines Day Cards
Allymcbeal18 doesn't upload much on DA anymore, but when she does, it's usually either Kingdom Hearts or Dragon Ball. It's been 4 months since she uploaded artwork, but she uploaded a couple journal entries last month so I do still want to say she's active.
I don't think it's Allymcbeal18 because she doesn't like Goku/Vegeta or Vegeta/Goku. She pairs Vegeta/Bulma and sometimes used to pair Vegeta with Gohan back in the day.
Maybe you're thinking of Vegechan? Is the OC/fan-character you're thinking of a redhead with blond bangs in the front? If so, she doesn't draw much of either of the two situations you described anymore. Within the past couple years (if we're talking about the same person) she's moved away from drawing DB much more than Ally has (but not moved away completely) and her current project is this big Freakazoid/Kim Possible crossover. Aside from that project, she also is working on fanart for Transformers.

Re: Valentines Day Cards
.... yes that would be Vegechan (she had the anthro dragons too, I remember) I was thinking of then because I was warned to stay because of the Freakazoid stuff in particular <_<
So my apologies to Ally then ^^;
It's just such a fucking shame that we've lost so many people in fandom, oi. It hurts sometimes.

There a lot of picture from her gallery but this just stuck out to me.
There so many things I want to make fun of here. SO. MANY. THINGS! But I'm in no posistion to mock others sense I too created my own DB OC. Granted my OC was created purely out of fun and her only purpose was cause unbelievable amounts of childish chaos and annoyance upon characters around her. And I never had the intention of letting that said OC shack with DB villain.Vegechan wrote:... a scene from the sketch I made of Buu and his girlfriend Vee (My original character).
Buu reveals his true identity to Vee for the first time.
*Snicker* I will not laugh at her fanart. I will not. As an artists it would be... wrong of me... to jugde... Pffft.... Hee-hee-hee. I need to go to bed before I say something I know I will regret later.
Oh god someone pleassssseee tell me there's a fanfiction she wrote based on this picture!.

This would be a side-thought brought up by Chuquita mentioning people who used to be big names in fandom disappearing > < *DH, Reber, B-Chan, Cegi, Ash the Wanderer, Bucky, and Universe just to name a few. Re: Valentines Day Cards
I know exactly what you mean Velasa, and although I'm throwing this waaaaaay off topic now I just want to say this last thing: During a comic con, I was lucky enough to speak to Bruce Timm again but only briefly (shit or was it Paul Dinni? Fuck or was it J.J Sedelmaier?) Anyway it was one of those guys) and I can't remember how the question came up but I asked him about how he felt when an artist or writer you like lose interest in a fandom/franchise he truly loved or at least cared a lot for? Is it encourage to stop writing or drawing fanart of something you really enjoyed?Velasa wrote:This would be a side-thought brought up by Chuquita mentioning people who used to be big names in fandom disappearing > < *DH, Reber, B-Chan, Cegi, Ash the Wanderer, Bucky, and Universe just to name a few. He told me that there were times in his life where he lost interests in a lot of things, specially when he was a kid. But things you really loved when you were younger tends to bite back at you oddly enough, many years later. He explained that when he was a kid he loved Batman and Warner Bro. cartoons but when he became a teenager, he completely lost interest in cartoons and DC comics. He started focusing more on Conan, Vampirella, and Marvel characters. He said it wasn't like he hated DC comics or cartoons, he simply lost interest in them. Some artists might feel compelled to stop drawing fanart because "they won't grow as an artist or be taken more seriously if they stop and continue on to something else." No one wants to be a one trick pony.
But sure enough, many years later the "nostalgia" bug bit him in the ass during the start of his career in animation. He didn't feel ashamed of drawing (or writing) about Batman or DC characters anymore. He wanted to draw all his favorite Childhood characters again. And boy did it payed off. (Batman TAS, JLU, etc)
I think I'm starting to understand now. It's alright if you lose interest over fandom after a while. It happened to me with DBZ (among other things). After I turned 16 I couldn't care for it anymore. In fact I was pretty sure I was done with this series. And yet her I am. I even write and draw sketches of my DBZ fan comic. Something I deemed lame years ago.
I'm not saying that artists like B-chan, and AllyMcbeal18, will come back to the fandom later. But sometimes it's hard to forget all the things you loved and probably inspired you when you were younger. Even if you do lose interest for them after a while.
