So if the 3 month gap between each release patter continues, we should get:

Box 3 - May, 2010
Box 4 - August, 2010
Box 5 - November, 2010
Box 6 - February, 2011
Box 7 - May, 2011

Cool, pretty fast release schedule. Anyone know the release gaps between the original 2 Dragon Boxes in Japan? And how many months were in between the Orange Bricks release?

I haven't been paying a lot of attention lately, so excuse my confusion.

Weren't there only 2 Dragonboxes for Z in Japan? Is Funi splitting them up? :?

Rightstuf has updated their listing of the Dragon Box Z 3.

Date Available - May 4 2010
Your Price: $44.99

I think they are trying to get this released before their other Dragon Ball products. That way they don't have so many being released on the same day.

$44.99 Isn't too bad but, I think I'll stick to http://www.deepdiscount.com which currently doesn't have a listing yet. They do however offer free shipping and I always get my DVD's about 1-2 weeks ahead of time. No to mention they will beat any listed price on the web or in retail stores. :D

Yes they are splitting them up... but it makes a huge price difference: where you would pay about $1700
for the entire series in Japan, the split up version will cost about $400 at its highest price.

Splitting it into seven Dragon Boxes makes the most sense for a North American release. People are paying between $35-50 for these, which is a pretty affordable price for how many episodes are in each set. If they copied the R2 Dragon Box release format, we'd probably have to pay $200 at once for each box. That's just too much money to ask a customer to pull out of their budget for entertainment. I'd like it if they could release them more frequently since it's not like they're really doing any work on these besides sync-ups and encoding.

Another reason for them being so expensive is the QUALITY[and size] of the JP ones and everything else that came with them.

I think it has more to do with how expensive DVDs and BDs are in Japan in general. Sure, the extra stuff plays a role, but it didn't have so many extras that it was worth around 4 times the American price.

I'm glad I quit buying those Dragon Box Z Singles at #16 for $60 a pop. They were killing my pocket. These are so much cheaper and the only noticeable difference in picture quality I see is the brightness due to NSTC transfer causing a 10% increase. Sure I'd love to have the original DBoxes but, I just can't drop that much money all at once and that's if I could even find a new copy anywhere.

DeepDiscount has Dragon Box Z 2 for about $40, and they always offer free shipping. I like that about them, but they've always taken a very long time to get the orders to me. Consider waiting to see if RightStuf offers a FUNimation 40% discount closer to the release date, which would knock the DBox price down to about $36. If you throw in another order and push the price up to the $50 total, you get free shipping on top of it. (Which, of course, only saves you money if you want something else from RightStuf too, so do so at your discretion.) Even with free economy shipping, RightStuf has been getting the DBoxes to us a couple weeks in advance of the street dates. Your call.
I can see their parachutes.

I've been shopping with them for a very long time and when it comes to anime, I always get my DVD's at least a week early. And, as I said they will beat rightstuf's sale price among any others.

I've got both Dragon Boxes from rightstuf so far, both for about $36 and it showed up earlier than the release date. Hopefully I can pre-order this during another sale.
Trans rights, now!

Crap, that is fast! But I don't know if its worth getting these since I already have all the orange box sets.

It is worth it. There is no real reason to go into detail for my reasoning on why you should buy these, even though you have the orange bricks. I would just sound like a broken record. Chances are that you may even want to sell the orange bricks after getting the Dragon Boxes. You never know~

Buy them, you wont regret it. :D

My exact same reaction! :) Freeza I think is the most well known villain in dragonball z. I was introduced to dragonball z through the Freeza and Namek stuff and seeing him on the cover in that pose just blew my mind! :P

I mean it's Freeza, the most feared individual in the universe..
