Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Those last two panels are just borrowed from the Goku and Vegeta fight where they slug it off...
...which shows us that they are trying to add in more fighting, because of that they are having trouble finding new ideas.
I have an idea! Make Broly shocked or something so we can watch a new and good fight instead of this boring and uninspired crap fight that should have been over in panel 1!
I never got the slightest amused in this fight, and am still waiting to be amused. I guess I have to wait for the death of Broly.
The day it happens I will dance a dance of joy.

You only feel that way because we only get one page at a time. If we got the last 15 pages all at once, that thought wouldn`t even occur to you.Freeza Heika wrote:You know, as nice as the punching and kicking is... there hasn't been a semblance of anything like plot advancement for 2 months. It is getting redundant.
Conclusion?
That`s a problem caused by the schedule of the new material. Not a problem of the material itself.
The pace of the fight itself is going along great with nice intensity and development.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Well, even though we would get those 15 pages at once, I would still think that the plot (regarding their fight) hasn't moved on at all since page 1.rereboy wrote: You only feel that way because we only get one page at a time. Since we know that they will have a beam struggle, they are dragging the story too long.
It's definately a problem with the material. I saw few fans complaining in the other long fights, and I see fans right now complaining of this particular fight beeing too long for many pages now.rereboy wrote: Conclusion?

It isn't. Right before it started, we get a flashback which could be shortened down into one single page, since there were only a few differences.rereboy wrote: The pace of the fight itself is going along great with nice intensity and development.
And then, all we see is the two of them going stronger and stronger, slugging it out. There is no development, really. All we see are punches flying around since the fight started, and the two of them powering up.
It feels like a repetition everytime they power up.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Imagine that today was the first time you were reading DBM. The very first time.
And you would start reading from page one to page 201 (except the Brolly backstory).
Now imagine that they rushed a little more the fights that took a little longer, namely the Dabura/Cell fight and this ongoing one.
Would you be glad that they did so? Or would you prefer to have that extra development within the fights?
To me the answer is obvious. I much prefer the way they are developing it without using an excessive amount of pages, instead of rushing it. Its such a better experience reading it from start to finish. And if you agree with me, then you agree that the problem is just the release schedule. If you don`t then we agree in disagreeing.
The only unnecessary thing that didn`t add quality to the manga was the Brolly backstory. That was just filler and pretty much pointless. Everything else just helps in making it better.
I mean, the Brolly/Vegetto fight started oficially at page 155. If you remove the Brolly backstory and the title pages (which are 13 pages), from the point that the announcer stated the Brolly/Vegetto fight to the current page, there are only 33 pages!
Two chapters of the weekly One Piece manga, for example, make up that number of pages (or even two chapters of the Dragon Ball manga make up that number of pages or close to it). That means that if this manga had the same schedule release that One Piece has, it would only take it two weeks to show us what has happened so far. Instead it took 16,5 weeks to release 33 pages (I`m not counting the Brolly backstory pages). That`s over 4 months.
Is that the material dragging? Or is it the release schedule that it makes it seem so?

My problem with this comic is not so much the pacing of the story but the fight scenes. Godo has a point that I brought up a while ago:

There's nothing wrong with using the same signature moves like the Do-don-pai or the Kamehameha. But seeing this page just shows us how truly limited Salagir's or Gogeta Jr.'s (or both) imagination is when it comes to action scenes. Someone needs to give these guys some martial arts dvds. And not just the the good ones, believe me the best ideas comes from the most over the top, bizarre, wire fighting, bargain bin cheap, kung-fu films.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I actually thought it was meant to be that the fight had turned into a brawl of sorts. There were some more acrobatic moves earlier on, but that's not to say improvements could not be made.

Uhhhh, am I the only one not seeing the similarities here? Its DBZ, of course people are going to get punched in the face. When that happens from people as strong as they are (or anyone really) the person being hit is going to have their face pushed backwards.
Vegito's face kind of looks like Goku's... thats the only similarity I see
Also, about them repeatedly overpowering eachother... dude, did you watch the Frieza fight? Or any fight? Thats generally how it goes, its not really terribly exciting if one person just completely overpowers the other for an entire fight.

That's how things went in the anime. The manga typically moved much faster.verto wrote:

I'm not saying that Gogeta Jr. copied or traced from the original manga. I'm just pointing out how similar the fighting moves are. And just because "it's Dragonball" shouldn't be an excuse to pull the same repetitive boring fight scenes DBZ anime did (note that I mentioned the anime and not the manga).verto wrote:Uhhhh, am I the only one not seeing the similarities here? Honestly now, did anyone here love watching episode, after episode of Freeza and Goku just throwing super fast punches at each other. Yeah it was cool the first time but it just kept going on, and on, and on, to the point where you just wanted to pull your hair out wishing for something different.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Honestly, aside from the last panel which kind of looks the same situation, I don`t see any similarities.

Agreed. They look nothing alike.rereboy wrote:Honestly, aside from the last panel which kind of looks the same situation, I don`t see any similarities.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Hm, the only thing I'd have to "complain" about would be Salagir's decision to change the story midway. This not only drags this fight longer by the introduction of SSJ2 Vegetto, it also results in another redrawing of the intro pages (would be the third one then). Plus, it makes it even more insane for the other characters who are watching right now. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but "somehow", I don't really know how, this fight is sort of "anti-climatic" when I think of most of the other fights to come...
Well, I am not trying to bash this project or something, I really like the comic. But yeah... while the art is really great, it hasn't the best story to offer - which is quite sad considering the great idea itself and the good development of the early pages ^^

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse

So, we learn Vegetto is incredible and apparently trains with Bra a whole bunch.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
That Bra had better be extremely strong.

I just realized...this must be how the story synchs up with the prologue now (being that they seem to be winding up for that first punch).
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
For Mystic Gohan to be saying that, Bra must be incredible.

She's the only one whose father is Vegito, the rest call him dad but...

Really? Vegito is Bra's father? That means that Vegito must've had sex with Bulma.verto wrote:She's the only one whose father is Vegito, the rest call him dad but...
