Spanish "Dragon Box Z 7" quick review
Spanish "Dragon Box Z 7" quick review
So I bought the seventh and final volume of Spain's so-called "Dragon Boxes", and decided to do a quick review of its contents.
First of all, this final set includes 44 episodes (245-291) in 12 discs (with a small case for every two discs. They're probably getting a bit carried away with the disc count there, but I don't really mind). Each disc contains the episodes in their original Japanese language, as well as (not-so-great) dubs in the four languages used in Spain. The sets also contain spanish subtitles for the japanese audio (accurate ones, mind you, they're not dubtitles or anything like that. You can also choose if you'd prefer the subtitles to be white or yellow). The video quality is very good, and the episodes contain their original openings and endings, with the japanese credits retained. The openings, endings, and title cards are all japanese-only, and there are no next-episode previews. The set also includes a small booklet with synopses of the episodes included in the set (including their original japanese episode titles, both rômaji and the spanish translation). All audio tracks are encoded as 192kbps stereo (even the Japanese track, which was mono to begin with. Kinda wasteful, but whatever). Extra features also included in each disc are the japanese openings to Death Note, Dragon Ball GT, and Saint Seiya: Hades Sanctuary.
Here are some screenshots of episodes 285 and 286.
Anybody interested in any particular information about these?

Re: Spanish "Dragon Box Z 7" quick review
So let me see if I got this right...
-3 episodes per disc
-4 language tracks (Spainish, Japanese, ??, and ??)
-Spanish subs for the Japanese track in either white or yellow (are there any other subs?) Which I've never heard of before lol. That's pretty cool.
If each track is in stereo, are these on dual-layered dvd's, or does the bitrate suffer any?
And how much are these sets? And they're Pal region, I'm assuming?
Edit: zomg! Farmer with shotgun is alive! But now he's farmer with loaf of bread!

The selection of Japanese openings as bonus features is... kinda random. Or is there some connection I'm not seeing here? I mean, DBGT, sure, but what the other two have to do with DBZ?

They're dual layer DVDs, with 3 to 4 episodes per disc. There are no other subs, no. And yes, PAL R2. 45€ + Shipping on dvdgo.nathantheguitarist wrote:So let me see if I got this right...

They're distributed by the same company, Selecta Visión. Free advertising, I guess. The selection of Japanese openings as bonus features is... kinda random. Or is there some connection I'm not seeing here? I mean, DBGT, sure, but what the other two have to do with DBZ?

The box looks pretty cool. The coverart of the cases looks semi-generic, but better than just screenshots. And it gets points for using some DBZ Legends art
(at least that's where I think half of that art comes from...)

And it gets points for taking the obvious step and using the dragon balls on the discs themselves!
I like it.
I think I'll get a box or three once I get some money to through around one day.

Agreed. The art on those covers is awesome. I wish FUNi could've used it for their orange box sets.Rory wrote:Looks like a neat little box. Loving Gotenks' badass smirk.

I wonder why the "Dragon Ball Z" writing seems like it's been mirrored?

I don't want to sound... uh, "ungrateful", but couldn't you fix that by mirroring them in any image editor?Puto wrote:Because my webcam automatically mirrors any photos taken

Re: Spanish "Dragon Box Z 7" quick review
I bought it off dvdgo myself. Fnac has it too, but it's more expensive there. Never looked into buying it off El Corte Inglés, though.

Me just being the cheapass that I am, is there anywhere to buy them used? I checked quickly amazon.co.uk and that's about it. I didn't find much.
