Gah, what have I done...

Now, has there ever been mention of the Saiyan language, or is it basically the...um..."basic" DB language?

Japanese is the basic language. Stated by Freeza.

I'm not sure if it's the official Saiyan language, but the letters and numbers on the scouters aren't English or Japanese. In the Saiyan Saga Bulma was able to modify the scouter so that it was understandable. Maybe someone here can do something similar.

It's not the Saiyan language, it's the basic language in the galaxy.

Where can I find these boards on Saiyan/Namekian language.
PS. Trying not to completely go off topic (though I am kinda late there) What are the people of Namek called? Nameks (I remember Freeza with that one) or Namekians(which everyone else calls them.
This could just be me being really stupid or the fault of the dub but any thoughts?

I have some scans from a Daizenshuu of that racial group, and they're referred to as 'Nemeccian'.

The Daizenshuu are in Japanese, so "Nameccian" is accurate.

Indeed. Brought over to english I'm pretty sure we could safely say it's the same, only with k's instead for the usual 'Namekian' (or 'Namekkian').

Yeah I guess,

was a pretty dumb statement. You can see what I mean though. DB in general has waaaay to many dubs which, in turn, means many different spellings, or even entirely new words and names in some cases.

Namekkusei-jin. Which could pretty much mean Namekian.

Namek-sei-jin literally means "People of Planet Namek."

Err, where are you guys getting the basic language line from? All Freeza says in Japanese is:

ナメック語ではなく わたしたちにもわかることばでおしゃべりなさい 話せることは知ってるんですよ

Meaning "Speak in words that we understand, not Namekkian. Because I know that you can."

'Jin' just means 'People' or 'Persons', right?

<_< I swear I saw a translation saying "speak in the normal language" or something. I think it was VIZ's, though it might have been a fanslation.

Right. 'Sei' meaning planet, coupled with Namek and the suffix 'jin' gets you 'people of planet Namek.'

Viz has Freeza saying "Please speak in a tougue that we understand, not Namekian. We know that you can speak our language."
