Cutting and pasting pieces of something together does not "refresh" it. If they had taken the time to reanimate all within the show, I could argue it's refreshed. Otherwise, it's a clip show.

A convenient clip show, but a clip show nonetheless.

That I can get behind. It is a different experience watching it. Hell, if it wasn't then what was the point?

At the same time though, those who have already watched Dragon Ball Z will already know this show's plot inside and out. Get what I'm sayin?

Clip show is a little harsh for Kai. I consider clip shows to be those worthless episodes in non-UC Gundam shows that obliterate the pacing and waste your weekend about halfway through the show. Or once every quarter of the show if you're into that SEED crap. If you like DB, you can enjoy Kai on some level, though I still prefer to watch the original Z anime over Kai any day.

Toei should have called it DBZ Kai right from the start. Its a much more fitting name.
Agreed. FUNi did something right for once.

Why are people who apparently think Kai is nothing more than a clip show and seemingly have little to no interest in watching it compared to DBZ coming into a Kai dub thread in a Kai subforum that's away from everything else to argue the nature of Kai's existence? It's not like I walked into Green Brick threads where people are comparing or whatever and saying, "Hey! GT sucks! It's just 60-something episodes of really bad filler! Hah~!"

At least make a separate thread for it so I can more easily be on-topic in here.

It's a glorified clip show, but I have an interest in watching it. :P

I just wouldn't buy it unless it had a really good English dub, because it would be worth a purchase to finally have a quality dub for that material.

Which is itself pretty sad, since that's what they should have been doing all along.

It does because I don't have to watch 10 episodes before bed to get anywhere in the actual story.

ZING!

Now, really. Can we argue whether or not a version of the show that's closer to the real source material is "just a clip show" or not somewhere else? It has nothing to do with the dub.

Because they are using this thread as replacement for the other thread that was locked.
"FUNimation Announces "Kai" License ("DBZ Kai")"

This topic's focus is the English Dub. But since the other main thread was locked. People want to talk about Kai in general also. That's my theory anyways. I think you are making things more complicated then it really is. Its not really a big deal is it? You are taking this way out of proportion, all Penguintruth said is that Kai was a glorified clip show. DBZ clipped. That's how it is to him. And you kept on making a big deal about it. Turning it into a huger argument then it really is.

I didn't even want to talk about whether it was a "new show" or "reversioning" or a "refreshing". I wanted to get back to getting red in the face about Chris Sabat and Linda Young.

I mean, come on, can't we decide what we're arguing about anymore? I think you're all just trying to find a subject I can't be an asshole about! :p

I suppose there are topics of which I have no opinion at all.

Like... I don't know. Wheat grain trade.

What are the chances of Freeza being recast at such a late stage? Hopeless? :?
