The Bandai "Final Bout" English Voices

Post by Blastero » Thu Mar 24, 2005 8:15 pm

Did anyone besides me think that the voices for a lot of the characters in Final Bout are perfect? Freeza and Vegeta sound awsome, and Kid Goku also sound pretty good. I still perfer Ian over whoever does Goku's F.B. voice. Trunks, Cell, Boo, and Gohan all sound pretty much the same as their Funi actors. What do you think?

The only problem is that you get about three seconds of "acting" for any particular character. Sure, they sound good and all with their hardcore "I'm gonna beat you!" shouts and calls, but would they be able to actually convey emotion throughout the course of the series? I seriously doubt it.

Though you're right... some of them were cool. I remember liking Cell's a lot, and older Gohan was nice, as well. Piccolo was slightly obnoxious to me, though :D. And Vegeta... errr... nah, I didn't like that one ^_~.

Vegeta kind of sounds like Count Dracula in the game.

I actually didn't care for them. 95% of them are leftover voices from Digimon and such. Baby freaking sounds like Andromon -_-

Pan's voice was horrendous. "Don't take us girls for granted!" Yeesh. I like her in Japanese, but bad lines + nails on chalkboard voice = much pain for me.

I didn't like ANY of them at all! Specially Pan and Piccolo. I mean, "Now, Shall I cleeen the trash of the universe?", COME ON! AAAARGH!

Just add some horrendous gameplay, and viola! a $15 frisbee!

XD No matter how much I dislike a game, I can't get myself to use it as a frisbee or coaster. I mean, people probably worked hard to make that. >.>;;

Haha. I remember that quote. I always thought he sounded like Clint Eastwood in that one. :P

I hated Vegeta's and Adult Goku's.

Cell, Pan, Trunks, and Gohan, and maybe some others were pretty similar to the dubs I've been watching though.

Vegeta calling Goku "Cock-a-rot" was a laugh riot... But it's the only thing I found humorous about the lines.

Man, I haven't played this version since '99. This is all I remember. The voices sound like Funimation's actors and some of the pre-battle quotes are...ugh...different.

I'll send you to Heaven

Did they dub any of the re-release? Or did they just cut those parts out like they did with UB22?

I think they cut out the pre-fight banter, but are the actual in-game voices still Japanese?

Somewhat. All the grunts and stuff are still Japanese, but any actual words, I'm pretty sure were dubbed into English, such as the outros.

So all the ki-blast talk is still Japanese, right?

Yes, as far as I know. The taunts and names are in English, but it seems generic grunts and stuff are still in Japanese. Of course, that's probably because the attack is still called 'Kamehameha' or 'Final Flash' in both versions.

Guh...Vegeta's voice was horrendous, but it grew on me. Since I played it before I watched the DBZ episodes where Vegeta was introduced, I was under the impression that that was how Vegeta would sound.

Other than that, the voices, at least from what I remember, were pretty good. As already mentioned, Son Goku's, Gohan's, Cell's, and Freeza's were the ones that really seemed fitting.
I was voted "most unique" and "most likely to become the next existential thinker" in high school.
