Gohan making things explode

Post by Blastero » Sun Mar 27, 2005 10:41 pm

Does anyone know how Gohan makes things explode when he punches them? Me and a guy were arguing over it. He kept saying that he powers up his fist with energy. The reason may be similar to that, but not just simply powering up his fist could do that because, 1. When he blows people up, it seems the enemy's own body is blowing itself up, rather than the enemy being caught in an outside explosion, and 2. Proof of this is when Gohan kills the Cell Jrs. Some of the Cell Jrs. were cut in half by Gohan's punch, which appeared to have no ki concentated in it, moved a good 1 or 2 feet away from Gohan's fist, and then blew up, so it can't be simply manipulating Ki in his fist, because the Cell Jr. halves were not in contact with his fist, or any of his ki when they exploded. I am fresh out of any theories, so why do you think they blow up?

I'd venture that it was just one of many growing inconsistencies TOEI made, that never yeilded any rhyme or reason. But like Mike said, it looks cool, so thats good enough for me.

Yep it's probably a Toei thing. In the manga, when Gohan kills the Cell Juniors they don't blow up, their bodies are just ripped apart. The exploding is all Toei's doing.

And besides, it looks cool. :D

Yeah. I guess. I was abit disapointed when I saw the anime after the manga, because I was excpecting to see Cell Jr. brains flying all over the place.

Actually, Son Gohan's ownage of the Cell Jr.'s did involve ki. Everything involves ki. Just not in the really cool blast like form.

I would say the logic in this (if any) is that the force involved when he attacks is so great that it causes whatever he hits to explode. And it's pretty cool too...

It may be a result of something being instantly destroyed by a massive burst on energy contained in the physical attack.

It may be a convienant way to get around the villians gorey death and dismemberment.

You be the judge :!:

I guess the explosion thing, being anime only is just meant to be a cool looking effect, rather than a different technique. As far I can remember, he blew pplz up in:

1. The Cell Games with the Cell Jrs.

2. Movie 9 with Bojack's henchmen, or whoever they were. (only saw that movie once)

3. Freeza in movie 12.

I just assumed the force of the impact was SO STRONG it caused an explosion of cells or something.

But yes, mainly, it looks cool.

Yeah. Probably had to do with the extreme friction causing the body to ignite.

Indeed. Remember, the force of wind caused by Son Goku's mere punch was enough to send his opponent (ChiChi during the Budoukai) flying...so obviously, as the characters got more and more powerful, the force of attack would get more intense.

It was to keep the anime less gorey. Like how Frieza's guts don't hang out, or #16's eyes stay in his head. Or it just looks cool.

Heh, even some content in Fist of the North Star is toned down for the Anime. Yes, Fist of the North star, Fist of the North fucking Star is toned down. A show where heads pop and guts fly is even worse in its manga form.

I shit you not.
