It may have turned out a little something like this. Or...this.

Sorry, I don't know the actual names of these pieces. Maybe come back and edit unless someone can help out?
That 'strange techno one' would just be simply be called Future Trunks.

I love Goku's Spirit Bomb where it's used everywhere, that choir at the end really nailed it.
Thanks man!

The later part of Spirit Bomb was actually the first thing I ever arranged for the show :)

I also did that weird "Future Trunks" one, but it wasn't meant for anything specific originally. We threw it over the Freeza death scene on that last attempt to please Funimation (original music was "Freeza's Death")
Yeah, I seem to recall hearing it in more than one transformation scene, and coming to the conclusion it was just being used as a "transformation" theme. Was it just slung the "Future Trunks" name as a result of it being chucked in there at the last minute? (It worked by the way, even when I watch the original I hear that tune because I had the dub taped from CN for years. See what I meant about its impression? ;) )

I'm not slating the track itself by the way, it just made a funny impression on me. Might even pick up a cd for fun. :)

If FUNimation actually did it, then it would turn out so much better.

Cool I'm glad you liked it in there. It seemed to match Trunks' fast moving hands ^^

Yup, it had a different name in the studio.

Btw, I did these for a different company(friend of mine) at about the same time that "Future Trunks" was recorded:

I loled when it kept cutting from techno music to easy listening music.

BTW, I never really liked "Future Trunks". "Heroic Trunks" was so much better.

Actually, that one took longer than any other DBZ track I ever worked on. I spent at least 2 weeks on it.

The reason it switches all the time is beacuse we keep cutting from an ice cream truck to a rowdy motor bike gang.

There's a lot of guitar work at the beginning that was intricately timed to the scene, then later it goes into ragtime piano for the silly cops who try to arrest the androids (some play on old cop shows from a long time ago, Funimation's idea) There's also some evil synth\rock for the Androids as they finally kick some $@#.

<edit> Hah, I just finally clicked the link, I'm glad someone finally attached the scene that goes with it! hehe that music makes no sense out of context.

Unfortunately, the music was placed about a half second out of sync in the YT video....so the precision hits are lost.

It seems like FUNimation was thinking "Hey, this scene has an ice cream truck in it! Comedy gold right there, the kids won't notice it though so we gotta make some special music to hammer it in!"

Damn, some of you guys try WAY too hard to make FUNimation look evil. I'm looking specifically at the post above me.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I don't think he was trying to make Funi look "evil". Let's not jump to extremes.

It works with the specific scene, but on it's own it just sucks.

I don't like that little bit when the bikers run off. You might aswell have a "Waah waaah" trumpet in there. But then the whole scene is stupid pointless filler.

That's kinda cool that you timed it all out to it, and it was a unique way to do it. I think it comes out rather well.
Most likely the voice acting ruins the actual scene in the show though...

What music would you have put in for an Ice Cream truck? I mean come on, I've never seen an ice cream truck and didn't hear some tinkly music at the same time.

It blows me away that people complain so much about the dub music going too hard core and then can't handle it when we do comedy music for a comedic scene. Or even forget about comedy, just being realistic, in real life you'd hear goofy music there!

Some of us just love to complain. I recall this started as a "Japanese soundtrack is horrible" argument, too.

Wow, I just got the image of an ice-cream truck rolling into my street blaring the Imperial March! There's comedy gold for you... Nah, nevermind :P
