I don't think that this is in violation of forum policy, but if it is I'm sure I'll find out soon enough. My sincere apologies in the event of.
So, um . . . what would anyone know about ripping audio files from a PS2 disc? Specifically, I'm after the "Memories of" capsules on Budokai 3 (and yes, it's the Goten ones), but I wouldn't know the first thing about the process of accessing the little buggers.
If anyone could provide me with some minor education, it'd be much appreciated. ^_^

Re: Ripping game audio?
I'm no expert on this, but I do know one way to get audio/video from a PS2 onto your computer. Well, two, but they're basically the same. You can get a capture device, by which you plug the three (audio L, R, and video?) plugs from the PS2 into something that hooks up to your computer, and use a program to capture from there. (And then separate the audio from the video, etc., as you please.)
Another way to do this, if you have a program like WinTV, is to plug the PS2 into the input box for that, and then use the record function of the TV on the computer to capture.
Basically, you're "playing" the PS2 through something that can record it...
I just got a capture device called "Dazzle" something or another from Best Buy a couple of weeks ago. The one I got came with video editing software as well, so it was $80, but I think you can buy the capture thing+that software alone for slightly less? This is the way to go if you don't have WinTV (which I think is more expensive). There's very little delay (compared to the seconds-long delay in the PS2-WinTV setup), which is nice.
I can post or send you a link to specifically what package I got, if you'd like. For what it does, it's a pretty good deal, and works like a charm for me so far. Anything you can play in your PS2, it can capture. I guess for your purposes the video editing software wouldn't be necessary, but the software+capture package price is actually pretty good for what the software can do.
I'm sure there are other ways, but that's just what I've used in the past. I've saved some sound clips from Budokai 3 to my computer myself!
Hope that was at least mildly helpful. O.o Can give more detailed instructions if you'd like.

Re: Ripping game audio?
Sorry for double posting, but I thought maybe I ought to provide a link to the capture device and program I mentioned. This is more or less the one I bought.
Also, I have no personal experience with this product, but it looks like it's a lot cheaper and will certainly do the trick for your purposes. I'm sure there are many variations of this one...

Re: Ripping game audio?
It depends on how the audio is stored. There were a few programs that enabled you to scan a disc and look for certain file types, like XA audio, and extract them. It's been ages since I played with them (upwards of 5 years or so, probably), but if you look around on Google with the right keywords you could find something I'm sure. After all, how else do you think people have been able to come out with audio hidden on discs that shows portions of games were never completed?
