Chances of a new DB film because of Kai?
If Dragon Ball Z Kai is a big success in America does anyone think there is a chance of a new Dragonball film? Do you think FOX might notice how well DBZKai is doing and then decide to do another film (depending on the popularity in America). I think it would be quite smart if FOX did that.

I doubt it. Dragonball is always a big success, but that didn't stop the first film from tanking.

Not that big of a success anymore though. With it coming back on TV it might increase the chances of a new film because it's recognised more.Amigo Ten wrote:I doubt it. Dragonball is always a big success, but that didn't stop the first film from tanking.

I really hope not. I never thought Dragonball was suited for live action.

After the failure that came from their thorough sodomizing of the source material last time...no. No chance in hell.

If Kai does really well, then I can see it happening. Evolution was, for the most part, really under the radar. So they could try their hands at a revamp if Kai does really well.

I hope not. I'm really against any live action adaptation of anime.
Dragonball fan since 2000!

If Dragon Ball suddenly becomes popular again it won't be because of Kai. It's airing on Nicktoons for God's sake. That's like the poor man's Nickelodeon. Don't get me wrong, any exposure is good exposure, but we're talking about a channel that airs primarily 10 year old reruns.SSJSteve wrote:If Dragon Ball Z Kai is a big success in America

Fitting for what is essentially re-reruns of a 20 year old cartoon. ;pInnagadadavida wrote:If Dragon Ball suddenly becomes popular again it won't be because of Kai. Re: Chances of a new DB film because of Kai?
I think FOX is done with DB. Even with Kai; I mean, it's been over a year since the live action movie was first released in Japan and since then they haven't said a peep. Even James Marsters has no idea what's going on concerning if they'll be a sequel.
DBE had such poor earnings that I imagine they've just sort of pushed the license off to a dusty corner of their offices for now. FOX made so much money off of Avatar that I can't imagine they'd have any interest in producing a sequel to something like DBE.
I don't mind though; I'd rather not see Chatku again. I do still think it's funny that Vegeta dodged the live action bullet for the third time though. I'm split on if I'd want to see what would happen to Vegeta. He could either end up unintentionally hilarious or completely awful.
Now Toei; they're the ones who I'd like to see set in motion creating a new 2D animated DB movie because of Kai's success. If they get some of the higher ups from dbz's anime--maybe Mr. Nakatsuru, the guy who's artwork Mr. Toriyama had trouble distinguishing from his own? Or maybe Mr. Yamauchi; the guy who directed movies 12 and 8? I don't know. I'd just want whoever would be in charge of this theoretical new 2D Toei movie to be someone who's got experience with the series, or at least really knows their stuff.

I hope so.
They've already done the Piccolo Daimaoh arc so they'll have to do either the Ma Junior or the Saiyan arc next. I'm hoping for the latter!

I just hope that if DragonBall does get another film attempt in a few years, it'll just be handled better. I mean, DBE was a fun diversion, but even non-fans could recognize its flaws.

Like Cartoon Network is any better?Innagadadavida wrote:If Dragon Ball suddenly becomes popular again it won't be because of Kai. It's airing on Nicktoons for God's sake. Nicktoons has aired PG cartoons in the past and actually advertises there shows in a manner than wasn't meant for a moron. CN has lost it's focus and ditched anime all together. If this was a truly uncut English dub of DBZ the only channel(s) would take it would be Syfy or Cartoon Networks [adult swim]
I'm pretty sure FUNi pitched this to CN and they went, a chance to make some serious money?! Then the supervisor came in and said "NO ANIME!"
Even Pokemon and Yugioh air like at 4/5AM.. Cartoon netowork honestly doesn't care about anime or saving their pathetic channel.
Everything CN has is absolutely garbage!
Re: Chances of a new DB film because of Kai?
What will make it popular again? I think Kai is the last chance to make the Dragonball franchise a success again. If it's popular it might even get moved to Nickelodeon.Innagadadavida wrote:If Dragon Ball suddenly becomes popular again it won't be because of Kai. It's airing on Nicktoons for God's sake. Just a heads-up, folks:
If you're going to make threads that relate to "Kai", the specific sub-section is probably the best place. Furthermore, there have already been several (and some still-relatively-recent) threads about this very subject, so please browse around first to see if there are any on-going conversations on the matter already.
