Renewed opening and new ending (Wings of the Heart)

I wanted to discuss the new (possible) opening and ending after Freeza ended. Do you want one?
What do you expect for a new opening/ending?
Should Takayoshi Tanimoto return for a new OP/ED or do you wish to see another artist?

Of course, this thread may also be used when the new (possible) opening and ending have aired and wish to discuss this. Then I will remove possible from the topic title (if I can).

Anyway, my personal opinion- I would love to see a new opening and ending. I love Dragon Soul but I'd love something new.

I don't think they'll use a new opening song for the Cell saga, I just think that they'll change the opening animation and use a new song for the Boo saga.

After 50 episodes I think it's just about time for some new material.
Modern Shounen animes change their OP and ED every 15 episodes I think (which I personally don't mind), so perhaps Kai won't wait till Buu like they did with DBZ.

So I hope you're wrong, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

By the way, if we keep Dragon Soul, do you think the entire opening sequence change (replace chibi Gohan and such) or just the last scenes like how they replaced Goku/Vegeta with Goku/Freeza?

Well, I already posted what I thought of this in another thread, but I'll reiterate. I'd like them to update the animation, but I think it's woefully too early to replace the theme songs. If it really is industry standard over there now to replace the songs every 15 episodes or so, I can only conclude they've gone batshit kooky. No one has any respect for the awesomeness that is the television theme song anymore. Makes me sad...

Considering that we have two different versions or iterations of Dragon Soul (Dragon Soul and Chou * Super Dragon Soul), I wouldn't be surprised if they end up using Super Dragon Soul for the second opening. Especially since how Super Saiyans play a huge role from this point on.

Maybe that's why they haven't used it in episode 47; they're simply saving it for the second opening. At least, that's what I think.

I doubt it. Something as notable as an opening theme would get its own CD single release before any inclusion on a compilation. If there's anything we should learn from DragonBall Kai, it's that they'll make you pay for things multiple times with a more-dedicated release first.

Yeah, any new opening would not be a piece already released.

Random personal hope: a new opening with episode #55, probably with a surprise announcement within the next month or so, with a CD release either before or after the premier of a new opening.

I'm still wishing they'd simply reanimated all of Kai from scratch, but it's not that bad a product for what it is. I hold out hope they're saving money to make a new 2D movie for Kai like the ones they make for One Piece and their other series.

Well, if they were to make new songs they would probably make new animation to go along with the new songs... like all anime.

Oh I'd be up for new songs; I'd be even happier to see new songs with new OP and ED animation because then it'd feel really fresh. I just care more about new animation than new songs; probably because I'm used to getting new songs in the video game openings, but new non-traced 2D animation for DB is rare.

Anyone familiar enough with Japan to see if that's a normal thing? DBZ never had it, obviously due to always using one OP.

Better yet, as it might be a better example, GT had four endings. Did any of the NEPs make those observations?

There's like an unwritten rule that says that there has to be more endings to an Anime than openings.

More modern Anime follow this "rule" and 1996 was pretty modern, I guess.

According to what VegettoEX just updated the front page with, it looks like we will be getting a new ending theme for Dragonball Kai, staring with the first episode of the Androids/Cell arc.

Now that we finally have some confirmation on this, I'm curious as to your opinions on this. Frankly, I'm a little disappointed, because as much as I like having new music (Yes!), I really really like having YBCB as the ending theme, since it happens to be my favorite Dragonball-related song.

Oh, and I suppose we'll be getting a new ending animation too (That's just speculation on my part.) That I cannot wait for.

Dragon Soul should have been replaced before YBCB. I've never been that fond of most idol songs, so chances are I personally won't enjoy it as much, unless it's damn catchy.

At the most, I hope Toei isn't lazy to use the same ED footage and it will actually be a new ED.

At the moment I can't state my opinion on the ending theme since I haven't heard it yet. I am curious though how Kai's repuation will be affected (positive, negative, or no effect at all) now that this (''moe'') AKB48 idol group can have a shot at it.

Damn, that's the worst message of this month! I needed to see only that pic of singer and I exactly know what we'll get. Some gayish slow or trance-like tracks screamed by some Japanese gal. Kai is degraded for a few levels again for me.
Honestly I'm disgusted.
