Episode #0214! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian take a look at the French fan-manga, "Dragon Ball Multiverse". Taking the idea of multiple, parallel universes from the original series and running with it, we have a series with a huge online fanbase that deserves a look. Some American "Kai" tidbits, convention appearances, some upcoming releases, and more rounds out the episode! Referenced sites:
Enjoy the 96 kbps encode these days! Whoa!

How did you forget about Karin of all cat people?

I'm very glad you finally got around to the Dragon Ball Multiverse fan-comic. As a big fan of it, as well as a writer of fan fiction, it's a great example to us who try to create 'big' pieces of work. Interesting feelings all around and I can totally agree with all the comments made, whether negative or not.

Something I need to point out, however, is the release schedule. There's a new page each Wendsday and Sunday at 11 or noon (right now it is noon due to DLST). Right now, for the special chapter, there is also a third page on Friday.

I'm honestly surprised the Broli stuff wasn't brought up really. It's been the sort of big promotional public face of the comic. Personally I don't care. The art is freaking incredible!! O.o

ROBO-JULIAN!! JULIICHIGOU!!

Also, the ending music from Movie Four!! Yeah, loved that piece. Was it ever release?

Thanks for the podcast.

I think that "Dragon Ball Multiverse" has been running for 3 years actually but I may be wrong been quite a few years since I've been reading it. Normally you will get 2 pages a week. At the moment the trunks special chapter you get 3 pages though it's made by "Gothax" instead of "Gogeta Jr".

It used to be 3 pages every week. We might get 3 pages a week the next chapter that "Gogeta Jr" is making. You are right that it is a slow pace. I like to read it regularly even if it is at a slow pace.

Huh. I could have sworn I read it was coming out weekly at this point, but now I can't put my finger on that source. Oh, well! Sorry! Everything else about the discussion remains true :).

At least it still comes out about a zillion times faster than DBAF. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

If the Kai dub has more accurate pronunciations, that would be nice, but it's not going to suddenly make the VAs involved talented. At the very least the script should be as accurate as possible to put fans of the Japanese and English versions on the same page on dialogue, but I cannot stress enough the need for some better direction and further recasting. If Schemmel's Goku is going to sound the same as he is in Z, then it's not going to make a big difference if he says KAI-O-KEN or KAY-O-KEN. He'll still suck.

The Multiverse comic is pretty decent, but I hate the involvement of Broly and how important he seems to be as an element. I can't stand Broly.

Seems like it's mostly an (overly drawn-out) attempt at showcasing Vegetto's power, which will move the plot one step closer to the inevitable Vegetto vs. Gogeta final round showdown.

Don't get me wrong: I enjoy the comic, but I wish the ultimate path of the plot were a little less glaringly obvious...

Same here although it is not exactly a sure thing even though we are all 97% sure. I am hoping that the "main villian" that I have heard about showing up in the story will make the plot a little more unique and less predictable. Maybe if some of the Vargas (those birdlike guys) also had ulterior, evil motives for organizing the tournament might also turn up in the plot as well, but that is more of my own wishful thinking. Overall it's an enjoyable story concept despite it's unoriginality. Though I must admit I am a sucker for the "alternate universe" trope. Bearded Mr. Spock anyone? 8)

Ah, completely behind on sharing my thoughts on "Z-Kai" airing on Nicktoons. I was actually reading in my newspaper that Nicktoons Network had an oddly high amount of female viewers (slow news day, I guess), which explains their sudden change in switching over to action animated shows like X-Men Evolution and Spectacular Spider-Man. Was completely surprised when they ended up picking up Naruto Shippudden, though, which like how Z Kai's airing is supposed to be is airing multiple episodes per week, with the occasional marathon on the weekends. I actually haven't been watching that much TV, but I'll see if I can catch some episodes when it airs. From FUNi's teaser trailer, I'm hoping for something watchable to a quasi dub fan.

As for Multiverse, I was actually surprised you guys didn't point out the main "Multiverse only" characters that decided to hold the tournament in the first place. I was completely waiting for you guys to mention how the bird characters are more than likely modeled after Toriyama's original design for himself pre-Tori-bot. They're actually the only characters not originally from the DB-verse that I like and remind me of a mix between King Piccolo's henchman Piano and one of Freeza's background henchmen.

... also completely agree with your thoughts on the comic as a whole. It's nothing spectacular, but it is something I check out on occasion.
