And I'm just saying that no matter how good the dub is, I still prefer to watch the original... because it's the original. I "shouldn't" have to watch any dub.

Haha, yes it is. Glad we're clear on that. By the way, I edited my earlier post to answer your other question.

Yeah, that's what I meant.Gaffer Tape wrote: Yes, that is what that means (and I also say that in my DBox 2 review, link below [/shamelessplug]). But don't you mean "because they DON'T have alternate angles"?
Can I ask why it's such a big deal to you, that you're not buying those sets?

Yes, you certainly may. And I will certainly answer. One might say I'm spoiled by the Dragon Boxes. I really don't want to shell out any money for any other Dragon Ball product that is inferior to that. And since I only watch the Japanese version, altered title cards and credits is inferior. Lack of previews is inferior. Video quality is inferior. Yes, they're better than the DBZ season sets, but that's not necessarily saying much. It doesn't take much to be better than those. When I can say that my old DBGT singles and DB 2-disc sets feel more complete and more accurate to the original than the season sets... you can probably figure out why I'm not getting them.
Also, I'm holding out hope for Dragon Boxes for those two series. I learned my lesson with the DBZ season sets, and I only bought two of those monstrosities. But I'm not going to shell out for DB and DBGT season sets when a better product might be around the corner. If the Z Boxes finish, and they decide not to give the other series the same treatment... well, I'll be really pissed, but then I might have to re-evaluate my position. Until then, definitely not buying them.

I can see where you're coming from, you don't want to buy the GT or Dragon Ball sets in case they give them a Dragon Box release like Z. FUNi hasn't acquired the rights to them and may never, but if you want to wait, that's your decision.Gaffer Tape wrote:Yes, you certainly may. And I will certainly answer. BTW, nice Dragon Box 2 review. I didn't know they switched the ending credits with the next episode previews.

Why, thank you. I appreciate that. And, yeah, I was suspicious of this flaw when I first got the Dragon Boxes and noticed it didn't match up to my fansubs, so I shot them an e-mail on the podcast where Mike and Hujio confirmed it for me, and Hujio was nice enough to give me permission to use his reasoning in my review.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote: BTW, nice Dragon Box 2 review. Meh, it's just a minor thing and I don't really care about it anyway. Still no word on the sets coming to Aussieland, might have to import them. Oh, well.Gaffer Tape wrote:Why, thank you. What's this thread about again, people..?
Daimo-Rukiri wrote: Why?.. The Japanese releases were 16:9, it was animated in 4:3 but carefully for 16:9.
And by the sounds of it, it seems it's the start of the Dragon Box the Movies.
Daimo-Rukiri wrote:Simple. My entire DragonBall collection will be fullscreen, 4:3. I don't care if it's either for this movie, however. Oh well.

How do you know? They could have them for all we know, they never announced that they had the DBoxZ rights, they just told us they were coming out of the blue.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote: FUNi hasn't acquired the rights to them and may never, but if you want to wait, that's your decision.

My personal opinion is that we'll never see a Dragon Box and a Dragon Box GT. I say this because one of the reasons they released the Z Box is that a lot of people were unhappy with the season sets and wanted something better. People are mostly happy about the blue and green bricks sets and they are still being released and sold.

I wouldn't go counting out a DB Dragon Box. If Funimation thinks they can turn a profit from something DB-related, you can bet they will eventually.

I wouldn't go for a GT Box either. Nobody cares that much about GT to justify buying it twice.penguintruth wrote:I wouldn't go counting out a DB Dragon Box. If Funimation thinks they can turn a profit from something DB-related, you can bet they will eventually.

It's obvious the season sets are aimed at the dub fans it's possible we'll get a release aimed at fans of the original series.

I'd totally by a Dragon Ball GT Dragon Box, it's got a lot of things I like, even if the series is on average...yeah.penguintruth wrote:I'm surprised anyone cares about it enough to buy it once.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I wouldn't go for a GT Box either.
