Apart from a few awkward lines like: "Fight for love and glory" and "Keep your fears abound", that was well sung.ThegreatPirateKing wrote:So people are asking for a better version of the opening and ending themes dubbed?
Luckily, my friend ItachiIshtar of Toonzone forums managed to record a much better version of the themes and since he knows when it comes to dubbed songs I always put in that little bit of extra awesomeness, he sent the files to me. So I just finished uploading the opening, with added subtitles and credits since I like to make my work look just a bit more... professional. While the quality of the cam rip isn't perfect, you can, at least, make out 90% of the lyrics well. Here's the link: Dragon Soul (FUNimation English Dub, Sung by Sean Schemmel, Subtitled) The ending should be up later today!

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
"Keep your fears in bound" perhaps? I'm not sure if that makes sense...
It's not storm then, I'm just deaf.Kendamu wrote:Sounds like "Bring it on!" to me.
Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
Am I the only one who finds it strange that they changed "Go! Go! Let's do it" to "Go! Go! Bring it on"? I mean the JP Version said it in English to begin with =/.
Reminds me of the one and only gripe I had with the English Dan Dan. How they have Vic say "Hold MY hand" at the end again instead of "Hold YOUR hand".

If it was perfect then we would have nothing to talk about!
I didn't initially notice it, but you're right. It is kind of stronge that they went with "bring it on" instead of "let's do it."

I honestly think it's because "Let's do it." sounded too much like... well, y'know...
Let's do it.
Let's do it.

Y'know. You're probably right. If I were 8 years old and watching Kai on Nicktoons, I'd probably make jokes about the "Let's do it!" lyric all the time.KaiserNeko wrote:I honestly think it's because "Let's do it." sounded too much like... well, y'know...

This isn't an imageboard. If you don't have anything to say besides posting an image, then you don't have anything to say period, and shouldn't post it at all.

Ah well, I got a kick outta' it (couldn't resist to be honest).

That is the type of speed I'm looking for. I may try that one (found the lyrics) and a few others.
I thought they aired the UUE at around 7/8-ish? They did air it at 10:30 during the weekdays, but for a short time they aired it at around 8 on Saturday nights.Kendamu wrote:What time they air it and whether any sort of adult programming is on the channel in the first place is a factor. Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
I remember it coming on during the weekdays shortly before Adult Swim. At the earliest, I remember it being on an hour before Adult Swim and no earlier. This is before Indiana started changing its clocks for Daylight Savings Time so I don't remember exactly what time it was. Also, I spent more time outside sparring and playing with a tennis ball than I did watching TV back in those days.

I still think it's "Dokkan, dokkan". And it sounds to me like he might be saying "Don't stop - Keep your fury 'round". Also, it's definitely not "Bring it on". Maybe "Breach your soul", "Bring your soul"? I definitely hear something like "soul".

I think "There's no fun to be found" sounds off, but that's's only because it doesn't seem to fit in with the tone of the song at all. However, I'm not hearing "Dokkan, Dokkan," and I'm hearing, "Bring it on," not "Breach the soul." "Breach the soul" just sounds way too Engrish for a dub theme.

But what about "bring your soul"? I know it's not on. It's an oh sound, be it soul or not.

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
I just figured that the "oh" sound in "on" was just from how he was singing it. I just can't see it being "Bring the soul" or "Bring your soul" because the first one doesn't make a ton of sense and I heard "it" not "your" in regards to the second one.
"Bring it on" sounds like the most likely thing to me.

Maybe it's "There's some hope to be found"? It's certainly "There's ____ to be found".Kendamu wrote:I think "There's no fun to be found" sounds off, but that's's only because it doesn't seem to fit in with the tone of the song at all.

He might have been pronouncing "son" correctly lately, so he's gotten used to "on" making an "own" sound.Kendamu wrote:I just figured that the "oh" sound in "on" was just from how he was singing it. I also think "Keep your fears abound" is actually "Keep your spirit proud", or something.

I can agree with that. There is something to be found... but it's definitely better than "no fun."Amigo Ten wrote:Maybe it's "There's some hope to be found"? Also, if I haven't said so already, I think "We can't find paradise" is actually "We can find paradise." It makes much more sense considering the next line in the song.

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
I also agree that it doesn't sound like "Bring it on" at all. So just to collect my thoughts, I think...
"We're in luck now" -> "We're in love now" (sounds that way to me)
"There's no fun to be found" -> "There's some luck (or hope) to be found"
"We can't find paradise" -> "We can find paradise"
"Bring it on" -> No idea. "Reach the soul"? Sounds more like that than it does "Bring it on".
"I feel so strange" -> "I feel your(?) strength"
"My enemies can tail the wind" -> "My enemies can never win"
"We will fight again" -> "We will rise again" (maybe, it could easily be either)
"Keep your fears abound" -> "Keep your spirit proud"
"There's no fun to be found" (second time) -> "There's no loss to be found" (it sounds different than the first time, but it could just be the sound quality)
