Screwy age mistakes(?!)
I've been thinking about the ages in DragonBall GT... and I realize: Trunks couldn't have been older than 18 at the end of Z, right? Well, when GT begins he doesn't appear to have aged at all... whereas Pan is AT LEAST 7, four years older than she was at the end of Z. If that's the case, Trunks should be about 22, and he should have the older appearance that Toriyama gave his future counterpart (when fighting Cell in the future). I could be totally wrong though. Can anyone tell me how many years passed between the last ep of Z and the first ep of GT?

The official year difference is 5, going by the Daizenshuu. The 10 year thing is pure fan speculation.

I guess the 10 year speculation came from the fans guessing a logical time for GT to have taken place. With all those characters looking the way they do...but Trunks is an exeption. He's in the Briefs family...but, whereas he and his mother still looked young for quite a while, his sister seemed to age pretty fast...
Bulla is FUNi's name for Bra. As for Trunks, he was about 18 or 19 by the end of DBZ. His future couterpart was about 21 when he defeated Cell, making him maybe 16 or 17 when he came back the first time.

Ah, yes, I forgot to include the time spent Room of the Spirit and Time. Well, he technically is about 21 years, as in years spent in the actual world since he was born.
On a side note, Trunks really screwed up time. There's not only the many timelines caused by the two trips to the past we see, but also the ones with Cell and Trunks, and Cell and Trunks twice, and then Trunks's return to tell everybody about how he defeated the Androids. Ugh.
But that's been described in another thread a while back.

Yes, Bra is at least a few years older than Pan.Sun_Wukong wrote:I always assumed Pan was 12. Is Bra supposed to be older than Pan? She certianly looks it.
To add on, There were 3 years inbetween Trunks' first and second appearance.
And it gets confusing, but even though 3 years passed in the Z-Warriors' timeline, only one year had passed in Trunks' timeline - therefore Trunks would only be one year older.
I'd have to go with the 23 theory (for when Trunks fights Cell in the future), because amazingly enough, the years spent in the time chamber do count. I quote, from tankoubon 35:
(Bulma:) "Chotto--- doushita no yo se ga zuibun nobita n ja nai!?"
(Trunks:) "Hai kako de seishin to toki no heya tte iu tokoro ga Kami-sama no kyuuden ni atte
"...Soko de wa 1 nenkan ga tatta 1 nichi de sugichatte..."
Roughly translated:
(Bulma:) "Wait a sec--- what happened with you? You've grown quite a bit, haven't you!?"
(Trunks:) "Yes, in the past, at Kami-sama's palace, there is a place called the Room of Spirit and Time.
"...Within, one year passes in only one day..."
So there you have it.

Anyway, Bra's actually a year younger than Pan. Go figure. But this is the same series where 9/10 year old Gohan looks older than 15 year old Goku. So ya.

Yeah, I agree with B. I mean they were quite numerous misconceptions in DBZ as well, due to certain animations & fillers.B-kun wrote:Did it EVER cross ANY of your minds to blame Toei and/or the art team instead of GT...? That's like "Stupid Z. Goku's hair isn't that big."

Why would you get upset about something like that? Of course I know Toei screwed it up. And actually, what your saying is quite different. No one would really care if Goku's hair was too big. Age is a whole nother issue.B-kun wrote:Did it EVER cross ANY of your minds to blame Toei and/or the art team instead of GT...? That's like "Stupid Z. Goku's hair isn't that big."
