Where's it said that nobody keeps their body at death?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Haha, so we're on the same page then after all?

EDIT: Whoa. Didn't realize we'd literally end up on separate pages of this thread. Oh, the irony...

LOVE IT.

But to answer your question, Silver said that in episode 36 of the Namek saga, we see the cryo-units with their bodies in them. These should now be empty, as they have been transported to the afterlife. So from the anime's standpoint, it establishes that there are two sets of bodies floating around. While this would help prove my point, it also turns the discussion between Kaio and Goku into a plothole (regarding Kami fixing their bodies). So I say 'meh - filler' and move on.

But again, how? Those same bodies are present in the manga. You don't physically see them, but their existence is verbally confirmed. We see the survivors go and pick up the bodies, and we hear them (read them) talk about said bodies and how Chaozu's body is the only one not present because he blew himself up. This is not filler. Those lines are in the manga, which indicates that the bodies would have had to have disappeared at some point after they were picked up by the survivors.

Like I suggested, maybe Kami had to cut some red tape before blinking them out, or like Bussani suggested, since there wasn't any pressing need for them, the afterlife took its time blinking them out, but, regardless of the reason, their bodies didn't disappear as quickly as Goku's did. I don't see how you're saying that's a plot hole, though. Several weeks had passed before Goku talks to his friend at Kaio's. The bodies could have disappeared at any point (though admittedly the sooner the better, as they had to run the Serpentine Road) between those two occurrences without it being a plot hole.

We're in full agreement here. The point Silver was making was that the filler scene showing the bodies in cryo took place AFTER the gang showed up at Kaio's.

But it... doesn't. The only time the bodies of Yamucha-tachi are shown is in episode 36, right after the battle with Vegeta ends. And again, even though they're only actually seen in the anime, the scene itself is canon to the manga. They only arrive at Kaio's in episode 51, 15 episodes later.

Then SilverPlaqueVII was mistaken.

I'm not arguing whether or not it can take place before they arrive; Bulma's comments in the manga flat out says it does, that this is just an off-panel scene being shown in the anime. My argument from the beginning has nothing to do with any of this. :P

Oh... In that case, what is your argument? I'm confused now.

And once that is revealed, then, hopefully, we will be on the same page (and I'm fairly certain we will literally be on the same thread page too... I counted).

My argument is that there might be a possibility that certain souls manifest in a body shape rather than a cloud (my theory being if they have any practice manipulating ki somehow, as ki manipulation was stated to be a ridiculously rare ability in the universe). Any example I come up with, people claim that they did good deeds in life and got to keep their physical bodies, whereas the Radditz panel was off-camera so some assume he was just a cloud. Thus, I don't have enough evidence to sway people just yet.

Although, can Kaio manipulate matter the way Kami can? If not, then when he, Goku and Bubbles head Enma (when Cell killed them), that could be an example.

He repairs Goku's gi and gives it the 'Kaio' symbol on the back, if that's what you mean.

Basically. If so, one could argue that they got their bodies back from him. Which is annoying, because it puts me back in the 'Dayspring might have something there...' instead of something concrete. :P

As contradictory is this, Goku died as well during the last ditch to close the Cell Games when Semi-Perfect Cell blew up Kaio's planet, killing him, Kaio, Bubbles, Gregory, and #17. Aren't the bodies being obliterated or kept with halos on after death?

That's not contradictory; that's exactly what we're talking about. And either they had their bodies repaired by Kaio or they're spirit bodies, like I'm infering.
