So whatever came of that plan on doing the martial arts discussion with Kunziat_83? I was really looking forward to that.

Well, I'm more excited than you guys about an accurate dub, apparently, but I can see where you're coming from via the "It's too late for me" attitude. That it took this long is ridiculous, and of course this accurate dub is for Kai, which you're already sort of unimpressed with, and I understand that as well. I'm mostly sticking with the Dragon Boxes, but I'm seriously considering getting a set or two of Kai if this dub is as good as the clips reveal.

Mostly, though, I enjoy that this enriches the DB fan community, because fans will be exposed to a script that's true to the original and will get how the story and characters are intended.

Oh God I just know if Funi picks up Dr.Slump they're going to give it the Shin Chan treatment. I'll have to avoid that at all costs. I don't think I could stand Arale talking about Republicans or more ham fisted Family Guyesque humor. It sucked when they did it with Shin Chan and my God it will suck when they do it to a show that I actually love to death.

Hey, you quoted my topic in your latest cast, that's pretty cool. Not used to hearing things I bring up show up on topics without me, lol.

On the matter of Sean Schemmel and singing, he does, in fact, do some songs for fun (and was a professional instrument player *I know it was a wind instrument, but which escapes me* before voice actor). He has a myspace specifically for some of his songs (him singing 'Jacking Off Into A Sock' cracked me up).

http://www.myspace.com/seanschemmel (if it's not ok to post on the forums, or here specifically, I can remove)

From what I've heard of the ending dubbed, I believe Jerry Jewell (Kudo in Detective Conan) sung it.

I'm curious as to how Saiyan Blood will be done, should be amusing if nothing else.

And don't worry about Dr. Slump too much. I doubt they'll take the same route to get it on TV. Though, they will likely have to make some joke changes.

Still on the table! Either him or I have been sick each time we try to get it going :P.

Forgive me for sounding like a broken record, but what the fuck do I care about how it gets handled for a TV broadcast (which probably would never happen)...? It's not like I'm ever going to watch it dubbed :P.

Of course, 4Kids has said they want to get back into obtaining shows...

Except that Shin-chan didn't get a bilingual release, it's dub-only. Though personally I do find it pretty funny, even if I'd like to see (or rather, hear) a Japanese track on those DVDs.

What if Dr. Slump is a dub-only gag dub release?

Yeah, I really don't care about the dub for myself, as I never watch dubs. I just want a good dub for the fans that do watch dubs, so we're all on the same page, and so that non-fans won't immediately see the show as a bag of ass.

Last I heard it was a rights issue with a Japanese actor, so yeah...it does suck, although I don't think Dr. Slump would run into this same issue.

But with Brice Armstrong retired they'd have to recast Senbe. :(

The DVD did include several inter-related shorts from 2-3 episodes together subbed properly, but other than that, full English. Don't get me wrong, it has funny moments, but it didn't warrant the price of $30 for 13 dub only episodes.

Haha, aw, you forgot to mention the bizarre animation goof in that filler Vegeta/Gurudo flashback where Vegeta is in his current armor style and is missing his precious tail. That's annoyed me since I was twelve! But a fun topic to go over, and it reminded me to catch up on my Abridged. So, come on, Mike, what was the line you were talking about? I have to know now!

I may have misinterpreted, but didn't FUNi actually make their own episodes of ShinChan, ie take unrelated clips and put them together anyway? I thought that was why there was no Japanese track...

The episodes weren't too randomized in order, but they did start in the middle of the anime, and pick the ones they thought would be funniest. They didn't think the apartment episodes would be as funny or as liked as they were, so later on, they decided to flashback to there with older episodes.

And I find, for anime, watching them in both Original Japanese with English Subtitles, and English Dubbed is a good way to get your money's worth.

Y'know Mike, I've been wondering, where's the news coverage for DB Movie 1 been? No post on the site, no podcast discussion. It's the first time the movie's been released here bilingual. I figured that'd be important.

I have nothing to say on it until things get confirmed for me. I have several very specific requests in that certain people have told me they'll be getting back to me on. They're slow. That's about it :).

Also, totally forgot about it.

What needs to be confirmed, might I ask? I mean, there is a Rightstuf listing.

With luck a Funi Dr. Slump release would hopefully be more like Sgt. Frog. The Sgt Frog DVDs are bilingual, and the dub, while certainly americanized, does retain the Japanese opening and closing songs. Hell, they even retain the parts where Keroro sings one of those songs in japanese while he vacuums.

So Mr. LaBrie, what exactly is this new "favorite line" of yours from the latest DBZ Abridged? I'm curious now.
