Dragon Ball Wars: Cartoon Network vs Nicktoons

Post by Impish » Sat Apr 17, 2010 12:12 am

I don't know about anyone else, but here in new zealand, Dragon Ball Z still airs on weeknight evenings on Cartoon Network (though it takes a mastermind to figure out which week, as they rotate their anime reruns every week), so when DBZK comes out on nick can anyone else see a bit of competition between the two networks to get viewers. I can see them being on at the same time, with cartoon network touting the "original dragon ball z experience" while nick will be showing how its closer to the original. If anyone else still has DBZ airing, or even if not, think about it.

Wait when is this on?
I live in New Zealand and I haven't seen DBZ on the air in months!
Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!

You still have DBZ on Cartoon Network?

Which dub is it?
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

Last I checked it was Funimation, but I remember one of the movies being Ocean dubbed.

But this is only in New Zealand.

I'm pretty sure in the US they stopped airing Dragon Ball Z before the Toonami block was cut. Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see them bring it back if Dragon Ball Kai generates enough interest. I doubt either station would publicly try and justify why their series is better or anything. Most people who grew up watching Dragon Ball Z wont give a flying crap about which was closer to the original Japanese version and the kids probably wont care too much either. To be honest only massive nerds like us do.

Dunno, but if it's not Saban dub, I think that actually US version of Z is better then US broadcast version of Kai, which is actually Saban in more modern age and disguise.
FighterZ, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat: Funky_Strudel
PS5: Dynamixx88
Trust me, I'm millenial and a designer.

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

The re-recorded Saiyan saga aired on the weekend run as well. It lasted up until early parts of the Freeza saga. Rumor has it, parents protested the uncut edition(with the middle fingers and what have you) and forced Toonami to pull the show. The fact that it's still on CN in New Zealand makes me smile. I'm excited for Kai on Nicktoons(because I have Nicktoons) but I'm disappointed in the Saban error type edits I'm hearing about.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

I figure that the real reason is that Dragonball Z wasn't getting nearly the ratings it used to so they pulled it.

That too. Now that I think about it, Funimation stopped making those "Ultimate Uncut" DVDs during the Freeza saga so who knows the real reason as to why they stopped airing. Out of all of them, the third one seems the most likely but I was stating the most popular rumor.

I seriously want to find out when this is on. I'll record it. Then watch it 20 or so times, then delete it.
