The dub music is very respectable and theres a reason for that. I guess it wouldn't hurt to preview my review here, so let me show you why the dub music works this time:

Oh god, they're using the attack names from the video games now? -_-
Next up, Saturday Crush! XD Well, I find the moves very entertaining to hear in Budokai 2.. of course, it might be since that in the euro GC version it's in engRish rather than in english.

Hmm, something of ( very mild) interest I noted:

It seems the titles of Ultimate Uncut DVD volumes 2 and 3 have been changed, if you watch the trailer in the extras section at the end it's different (lists the titles of volumes 2 and 3) and instead of the titles that have been solicited to retailers we have:

Volume 2: Gohan's Anger, Goku's Rage (As opposed to, Piccolo's Plan)

and

Volume 3: Into the Wild (As opposed to, Into the Wind)

Also Rightstuf now has volume 4 (supposedly) titled "Gohans Trials" up for pre-order (July 19th release date).

If anything, I find this speedy release schedule encouraging.

The Spanish dub's scripts are so close to the original, you can use the Japanese subtitles to translate the Spanish dub, being there isnt any Spanish subtitles.

Hey guys I've been to a couple Best Buys looking for the DVD (their website says its out) but no luck. Of course Suncoast and other places will wait till the 12th. Are there any other stores than Besy Buy that might have it out early?

I pre-ordered mine. That and the new movie. I can't get the latter till next week though, (Sakura Con's this weekend, and I have to save my money for that, and meeting Pikachu).

So, for those who have seen it, how is the "new" dub overall?

I like it, its pretty good. Sometimes since its mostly from the Pioneer scripts and you know in your head how the original cast said a certain line it can be wired at times.

But I have no problems with it.

It's alright, not perfect, but alright. The intro and credits are very ugly though... but the dubbing is decent, and the acting is actually pretty good, esepecially in the first episode [which follows the misadventures of a thoroughly cute sounding, afraid Gohan, as he gets himself completely lost, and almost falls off of a waterfall.] As far as the rest of the dialogue goes, for everyone else, it's fine, but it's not much different than watching the Pioneer release.

And yes, it is true that Roshi is drinking Beer again, rather than fizzy water.

Its rather decent, having a score that doesn't make my ears bleed is alwas a plus and these guys do a good job of acting the lines that are mostly the same from the old dub but with a diffrent tone (my favorate example is Rasditz who was very sarcastic in the original dub and with the same lines he soiund more menacing then punkish). The new scenes come over extremely well too. I just hope we won't be hearing the "Another Dimension" line in the redub since they for the most part used the old script (they even gave Master Roshi his "I smell death in the air" line back to him, although Piccolo doesnt say it could be woprse by him killing Krillin again, he keeps the "you COULD make me angry, but I don't advise it" line). Ultimatly this IS the best DBZ in english dub I've seen yet - but it still is not the original. The new theme song animaiton is weird though, many just black spaces areas - its rather odd.

If you look at the second image of the credits, at the top of this thread, you will see these three listings:
  • Opening Music
    Dave Moran

    Closing Music
    Mark Menza

    Additional Music and Sound Design
    Matt Cheney
It's safe to assume that the 'additional music' credit, means the music that fades in and out through each episode, and that Matt Cheney was responsible.
[Note: I am not an expert on the subject of credit, and companies giving it, so I might be taking the credit too literal.]

No Bruce Faulconer eh? :x

The music doesn't sound like Mark Menza's DBGT music, does it?
I can't stand that music.
I won't even get started on the DBGT opening....

Of course it wasn't the Japanese score... but you can switch the audio track to Japanese, being trilingual and all.
SS Kakarot wrote:No Bruce Faulconer eh?
I don't know about you [what with that face and all,] but it would seem a lot of people are relieved to have Faulconer gone, though the new guys aren't any better. (Yes, this yet again is another reference to just how crap the opening theme, and ending themes are... however, the music that plays through the course of the episodes isn't all that bad.)
SS Kakarot wrote:The music doesn't sound like Mark Menza's DBGT music, does it?
Well, the closing didn't sound like anything I've heard in GT...
