Post by Vegeta Jr » Mon Apr 19, 2010 4:48 pm

I'm holding off on getting the remastered releases because lets face it the Orange Brick scandal has me at a loss.

If you want DB and GT to be released, you better hope Z sells well, otherwise it may not happen. That would be sad. Same goes for the movies. I was at the C2E2 FUNimation panel.

I think the general idea then would be to support the series by buying DBox Z.

Geez, I wish we had some specific numbers it's pulling in vs. how well FUNimation wanted/expected it to do so far.

Yeah, that's also what I'm doing. I don't have the money or the patience to buy any other Dragon Ball DVD release twice again.

FUNimation has only aquired the rights to the Z Dragon Boxes and the Dragon Box movies. There's been no word of from them about the Dragon Ball and GT Dragon Boxes.

If you want my opinion, FUNimation is never going to release them. There is a possibility that they will, but it will be after a hell of a long time. So I suggest buying the GT season sets and the blue bricks or the Madman DB sets.

They are a lor simmilar to TOEI, always doing the half work...... I think that people who bought orange shits should be have the possibility to change it for dragon box and pay only the gap in prize between orange bricks and dragon boxes
FighterZ, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat: Funky_Strudel
PS5: Dynamixx88

Why? Because people were impatient and didn't hold out for a better product and settled for less and are now regretting it?

It's not like I'm asking for money from Toei for purchasing Region 2 DBox singles now that the same footage is available in Region 1. It's not like anyone was shouting for a program between the edited Saiyan/Freeza singles and the UUC. It's not like the UUC collectors and the original (Freeza and onward) singles collectors demanded a trade-in for the Orange Bricks.

Anyone who bought the Orange Bricks and are now regretting it need to just live with it. They sold well because they didn't stand their ground and wait for something better.

It's just fun and I don't care because I didn't bought orange bricks))) Only thing which will piss me off is if they won't release Boxes for Dragon Ball series, I don't care about GT and movies.

Seeing as though it was advertised as the 'definitive' version and the Dragon Boxes were pretty much the biggest surprise outside of Japan like ever, I think that mindset of yours is totally wrong.

That's like giving FUNimation a free pass on the debacle.

It was not because of the "Definitive" edition moniker, but because it was cheap! A cheap product for a cheap price. Many never cared for the picture quality, all they wanted was a copious amount of episodes for a small price. Most of these owners simply don't care for our little OCD-Like tendencies. We nitpick little things, the average consumer doesn't give a damn about previews for episodes. While we like the original intended 4x3 ratio, some don't care about the faux widescreen. We may like the Dragon Box colors, others don't care about the over-saturated colors of the OB. This list could go on and on. But, all these details pale in comparison to its biggest point; the Orange Bricks are cheap.
In the end, its not FUNimation to blame, but people for simply not caring. People undoubtedly got what they paid for. If the Dragon Box fails in America, its because people don't care to buy a higher priced Dragon Ball product, when they can get the same amount of episodes for a cheaper price.

Take this example. If they split the GT Dragon Box into two boxes (Episodes 1-34/35-64), the Dragon Box would go for 50-60, but the season sets go for 25-30. Which one will people buy more?

I personally don't believe we will be seeing the Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball GT Dragon Boxes in America.

I'll just purchase all 7 of the US Dboxes over and over to convince FUNi to release the rest!

I can build a fort with them or give them to the poor.

Castor: Don't be stupid. This is the Dragon Box, the best home release of DBZ ever! Much better than a cheeseburger!
Homeless man: But I don't have a television.
Castor: Just cuddle the box when you sleep at night. See ya! *zip*

That's totally ridiculous.

Homeless men would ask for fortified wine, not cheeseburgers.

On topic: the Green and Blue Bricks seriously aren't bad products. The only thing that irks me is the lack of previews (no biggie) and the zoomed in-footage in Dragon Ball (also no biggie, as long as it's not worse than the old releases). I'm holding off on them right now, simply because if Dragon Boxes are released, I'd rather get those. But if not, I'll have no qualms with picking up the Season Sets for cheap.

You act like they just had the Dragon Box sitting around and said, "Hey, let's give them crap instead!" In the initial con announcement of the DBox, it was mentioned how hard it was for FUNi to get the DBox from Toei and it was pretty obvious that it was a very recent acquisition when they announced it due to the lack-of-info on audio options and the misquote of the number of pages per Dragon Book.

So, up until getting the Dragonbox, the Orange Bricks were FUNi's definitive version of DBZ and was probably going to stay around for a long time as such. However, fan demand from those of us who didn't settle for the Orange Bricks eventually brought the DBox over!

Anyone who settled for less and isn't happy now is just going to have to tough it out the same way many of us who bought the more expensive Japanese version without subtitles have to tough it out.

Forget GT! I hope DragonBall gets a DragonBox US release here too!
