I agree with the image quality on the "Saiyan Saga" disc... The grain in it is horrible! It's far worse, than Pioneer's in my opinion... Having released the DragonBoxes, Toei could've provided a much higher quality product... It's overall, pretty disappointing.

I kinda doubt that FUNi went back and re-purchased all these episodes from Toei. They've probably had these videos sitting in their basement since 1997, just waiting for Pioneer's license to expire on them.

*sigh* I never thought about that... You think they picked them up directly from Pioneer, or did Pioneer pass them on when the rights went on to FUNimation?

I think the grain isn't nearly as bad as it was on the "Arrival" edited dub only disc that Pioneer distributed all those years ago, in the 3 head to head's I've done so far I'd say the new disc looks better. Though for sure a notch below the average image quality of the other DBZ discs.

For someone like me who grew up getting third- and fourth-generation Dragon Ball tapes, a little grain on the picture doesn't bother me one bit. :)

FUNimation always had the rights to the series; Pioneer just distributed the video/dvds for a short while.

Anyway, I don't find it surprising that FUNi just used their old masters. I mean; were we really expecting anything else?

The thing is... the grain looks worse than the original Dragonball DVD's... That's pretty damn sad... I does seem to get better on episode 2, though. 1 is almost unbearable..

Oh, come on! The movie wasn't THAT bad! I found the part between Broli and Goten + Trunks to be very funny. How the Legendary Super Saiyan is being treated [at least in the beginning] as a plaything by G+T, was pretty funny.

Alright, I'll break slightly and agree, but mostly was just boring... it barely even elaborated on the movie it's the direct sequel of.

One thing that really gets me, Gohan is a quite a bit older there, about the age he was when the Tournament arc began in the series- and he didn't even go SSJ2 on Broly [at least, thats the way it looked,] hell he didn't even go SSJ for the first... oh 5 or so minutes of the fight. Over all I thought the movie had a dumb premise, and the fight was so drawn out, that the end didn't justify the means... and if Shenron summoned Goku back to life, why wasn't he around after Broly was defeated?

Wait, I thought movie 11 was the really shitty one...is this one just as bad or something? I've never seen anything past movie 7, so I'm in the dark on all this stuff.

Also, looking through the movie guide, I just noticed that all the FUNi movies have the villain's name in the title, while none of the Japanese titles ever do this. It's kinda neat to see how even in the titles the Japanese and American releases take totally different approaches.

Yes, it is that bad.
Also... it is kind of neat, but this movie so totally doesn't fit it's name; it should have been called "Broly: Hey, I just kind of woke up... so I am going to be all moody, and yell at a dead Kakarot, and try to kill that same dead Kakarot... oh wait, there's some kids, I'll go thrash them instead." That or... "Broly and The really drawn out plot point."

Blastero wrote:I've come to a conclusion that every movie except 3,1,6 and 12 suck. Most of them have little or no plot and are just a big long boring fight scene.
I hope you wrote that out of chronological sequence; because if 3.1.6 is an area code...I'm bouncin back 856 BIATCH!

On the less serious note, how could you exclude some of the other movies? ontop of that, why would you say the fights were boring? They have some unique shit: Let's take movie 2 for a second. We got to see Roshi kick ass again, Goku got frozen, and to top it all off...Giant Robot. How often do you see the Goku and his boys fight a GIANT....ROBOT!?

Slug sucked.

Movie 5...Piccolo got some respect man. He killed two homo-cronies, got gutted, and bounced back to makankosappo Prince right in the stomach.

Movie7..........damn.....what can't I say. Exactly what you would see around the block man. Hicks, Indians, short black pimps, inner-city fights, terrorism, prostitution, drug deals you name it all this movie has it.

Broli sucks.

Bojack was a rip-off thug. The movie was alright though.

Broli sucks.

Bio-Broli.......

...just why...

Hildegarn. A giant fly attacked the hood. Vegeta said some tongue burners. Gotenks kicked ass. This movie was a 3/5 because it had some points holding it back. The Gaysaiyaman and another short wizard.

In CONclusion, not all the movies sucked and they all weren't good.

Thats... nice, or something.

Also, personally, I really like the first three movies above all others.

Personally I think movies 8 and 13 were the best because they had well-written plots. Yeah, the villain in 13 wasn't anything special, but it had a good story. My least favorites I think would be 4 and 5.
