Krillin's father, a TV reporter?!

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

I doubt that, they probably just wanted something to call her in the credits.

But lots of characters are unnamed in the dub, and remain that way in the credits.
Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!

Well, they don't always have to remain nameless in the credits. Do you honestly think FUNimation thought that was Tenshinhan's mother despite the fact that their connection was never mentioned?

Well, yes. Funimation have made hundreds of mistakes. Did anyone tell them this WASN'T Tiens mum?

Now, the bear with people arms, that's something to talk about.
Just, why do FUNimation always have to try and be funny (e.g. "Cat loves food") when it's not needed? I know the staff can have a joke now and then, but I'm not laughing when they take the time to fuck around during the making of a dub they've already bastardized multiple times over.

And yes, I know I sound a bit grumpy, but... :x ...I just can't be arsed to deal with FUNimation anymore that anything they do is gonna make me facepalm.

I hope to never experience the levels of nerd rage necessary to be upset by a "Tien's Mom" joke credit.

It's not "nerd rage". I'm just fed up with FUNimation trying to be funny when it's not. It's like saying, "Look, a bald guy! He's Kuririn's brother! Lol!" It's not even funny, it's just embarrassing.

Unnamed character was probably jokingly refered to as ''Tien's Mom'' just to have something to distinguish her from other unnamed characters when it came time to do the script. So the joke was between the writers and performers only, not for the fans. Whatever was in the script simply HAD to be in the credits, that's all.

That makes sense, but I'm over the corny jokes.

Exactly, it wasn't: "DERP FUNIMATON THOUGHT DAT WAZ TIEN'S MOM DERP, THEYZ STUPD".

Don't need to be a prick. I was just saying they make a few mistakes.

Trust me, FUNi didn't think that was Tenshinhan's mother. That's like them saying that those guys from the Orin Temple that show up at the 21st Tenka'ichi Budoukai are Krillin's brothers. They've made mistakes, but they're not stupid.

Did they say they were brothers?
Off topic: I wonder if they died when east city got blown up by Nappa?

No, they didn't. I was using an example.

Oh right then. They could be. But we don't know. Oh well.
