You make a good point....eh, well...they didn't have any that said that :P

Anyway...unless I actually was reading it...I'd probably still rather be watching it than whatever else I'm doing.

Well, I actually have no real interest in the anime, namelly buying it, so all my Dragon ball commercial interest for Dragon Ball is focused on the manga.
Also, I don`t like spending lots of money in these kind of things (even though I love them) so the Vizbigs are perfect for me. I`ve even already completed my Rurouni Kenshin collection with the Vizbigs.

Well I'm glad you talked me into buying my VizBig's because they're really quite something else :).

Which reminds me, just ordered DragonBall VizBig 2 and DragonBall Z Remastered Season 8. Can't wait!

No, it was a promotional thing. Check my thread in the Kai section before May 1st! ;)

Finally received the first Dragon Box in the mail today! Now my eyes can rest and they will not be burns while I watch Dragon Ball Z!

Somehow the footage strikes me with nostalgia, even though I never watched the show with this more accurate color palette when I was a kid... The first 2 episodes and their slightly pinkish haze make me reminisce on my childhood for some reason and it fills me with nostalgia... Doesn't make sense, but it looks beautiful either way. I was worried that it would look bad on my TV, because when I was watching the Season Sets, the screen always got distorted when there was a lot of black on the screen, but that barely shows up, if at all on the Dragon Boxes. I guess the ridiculously high contrast and the ridiculously dark blacks were screwing with my TV... Damn those Season Sets were awful...

Next month I am most likely going to purchase Dragon Box 2 and 3 at once, despite there being other anime and games I would like to purchase. Having one of my favorite shows in a watchable, and excellent form just takes priority (thankfully Fist of The North Star volume 1 is being released in June, so I will have time and money to get that when it comes out).

Also, the English 5.1 track is most definitely remixed, as I was watching the Orange Brick Season One episodes a few days ago, and the sound effects were ridiculously loud and drowned the music and voices almost completely out, but here from what I've watched they are much softer and and blend with the rest of the audio much better.

I thought that, if there was at least one problem most people had with the DBox, it was the colors?

Well, it's debatable. Either way, it's still more accurate than the season sets. Most episodes seem accurate enough, and on my TV, the few episodes that actually do have a reddish color-cast don't really look so bad either; the red color-cast is not so noticeable.

It's also debatable as to the color accuracy of old VHS tapes, which could possibly deteriorate the colors, but I also believe I've read on NES documentary that the NES color palette was somewhat designed with 80's Japanese TV's in mind, which supposedly added a yellow tint to the picture. I wonder if that affects the VHS recordings or not...

A part of me wanted to believe the colors were inaccurate because I wanted to try to have a reasoning for going without the Dragon Boxes, and in my mind I wanted them to seem not as special (I wanted to be able to focus on purchasing other things... but the Season Sets brightness was actually making it hard for me to want to re-watch the episodes, so I decided to get the Dragon Box)... but now that I actually own one, I just have to admit and let go of that. Of course, they could still be inaccurate, as some episodes do have a bit of a red color-cast, but it's not a big deal to me, because I just want the best footage with a proper 4x3 aspect ratio.

A few people have complained about them. I think they look great. Granted, I'm partially color blind, but they sure as hell look good to me, much better than the season sets.

I have a feeling that until all 7 Dragonball Z Dragonboxes are out, those are going to be the only Dragonball-related items I buy in the next few months.

And I ordered Dragonbox 3 from RightStuf :D
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^
