it's says "A Must Own For All DragonBall Fanatics!"
That trailer has footage from Dragon Ball episode 2, like the 1995 dub had. :?

You're right! The plot thickens.

Well, the trailer never says it's uncut or remastered or anything like that.

Hopefully there's an uncut video track for the Japanese audio... if there's not at least that then... well, fuck it. Maybe they made the trailer before they had the final product... maybe there is a re-dub and we're just worrying over nothing.

TripleRach just brought it up in the chat, "If it is uncut, they should be hyping the shit out of it, because that's the biggest selling point".

So it's already a pretty bad sign.

Actually, I was going to say something but decided I was probably imagining it or seeing what I wanted to see, but now that someone's brought up the episode 2 footage, my first thought when I saw this was that it was exactly the same as the trailer they made for this in '95. I could just be totally making this up because it's been, like, ten years since I saw it, but that was just the feeling that I got when I watched it, only with Chris Sabat dubbed over the top of it.

Didn't they already say this wasn't a re-dub?

We're not sure yet. I'm guessing since it's available for the first time in North America that we'll get a re-dub. I mean, since it was only available edited in English everywhere except for Japan starting in 2006. It's not available until December, so I would think in the time between now and then that they would be dubbing it over again.

Just a guess.

It is kind of frightening that they didn't mention Uncut since FUNi's loved throwing that word around for the past 3 and a half years.

They didn't, did they?

Well, the Rightstuf listing says the Age Rating is 13+, so I'm assuming it'll be uncut (although I assumed it was going to be from the beginning anyway).

They didn't say that this was going to be a re-dub, but we can assume in this day and age that FUNimation won't cheap out and re-dub the movie.

I'm wondering if the "no re-dub" thing had been true up until recently (and now they've decided to go ahead and do it)... why else would it need to be pushed back? Re-dub? Combined release with something else? Dragon Box versions? SPECULATE FOR MONTHS UPON MONTHS, MY FELLOW FANS!

I'll say the same thing here that I said on ToonZone. In the case of a redub, I beg and plea to FUNimation that they do not replace Stephany Nadolny as Goku with Colleen Clickenbeard. Colleen Clickenbeard is fantastic actress, and I fully support her taking over as Gohan. But she is not Goku. She will never be Goku to me. These three movies are the last shreds of classic Dragon Ball material that FUNimation has not properly treated (as in consistent with the rest of the dub, Japanese audio, and good quality video). I'm not worried about a new Oolong or Bulma, but if they don't have Stephany return to redub these last three movies, I will not support this release. Stephany Nadolny's portrayal of Goku will always be a very important staple in my Dragon Ball fandom. That is the voice I grew up with. I will have an English-speaking Kid Goku no other way.

All I want with these new dubs is a little consistency among the TV series and the movies. Every other FUNimation property, in which this situation applies, has this. If FUNimation can bring in original voice actors to dub the Evangelian movies, then I don't understand how they can't bring in a person they've worked closely with as recent as November 2009. I'm not the only one who grew up with Nadolny. I'm not the only one who will greatly miss her absence in the case of a redub of these movies. I will not buy these movies if FUNimation doesn't get Stephany Nadolny for just these last three 135 minutes of footage..

Hmmm the "pushed back later in the year" is really interesting.

I really hope we get a re-dub. Sure, it wouldn't match movies 2 and 3 (grrr) but whatever.
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

I hope for a DBOX release full of re-dubs. Movie 4/the anniversary film had a pretty blargh dub.

And Steph Nadolny! Hands down, the best English Goku there is.

I assume the push back was for an in-house dub, but I think the dropping of Nadolny for Dragon Ball Kai is a sign that she probably wouldn't be asked back for Dragon Ball: The Legend of Shen Long.

If this is a re-release of the old edited dub, it makes it a stupid move from FUNimation.

Who buys edited dub-only releases these days?!! Other than 4Kids' releases that I doubt anyone buy based on their black history.

As for it being subbed Japanese-only release... it looks like this is becoming a trend with anime releases from some news I keep hearing. Even the newly released Gintama DVD Collection 1 does not include a dub track.

Again. I don't see it make sense with FUNimation... they swim in cash! I don't think they are cheap enough to say the re-dubbing costs a lot and that's why it will be Japanese with subs only. Unless they are too lazy to do it...!!

Ooh, subbed only? That would be awesome! If that was the case, it would make sense why the cost is so low. I doubt FUNimation would do that, but you certainlyl wouldn't hear any complaints from me if that was the case. If anything, it would ensure there wouldn't be any dub credits and title cards.

Aw, dagnabit, a delay? That sucks, but hopefully it'll mean a redub. Preferably with the reworked Kai cast.
