Me too. I was really looking forwards to it. If Ocean Productions doesn't make a dub... I will make lots of sad faces. T_T

Yeah same here. I just want Dragonball back on TV!

I wonder if the higher ups shut him up, after all he did delete his fan club of comments.

I thought of that possibility too, but why would they wand to shut him up? I thought it was supposed to come out in May, and so far there's been no ads for it. :?

And here I was thinking it was because of me he did that, since a lot of them had to do with his butthurt.

I was looking forward to seeing what an Ocean dub of Kai would be like, too. But it's not like I was desperately wanting one, especially if they were going to use replacement music. I'm not a huge fan of Yamamoto's Kai score, but it is the score for Kai.

Yeah, especially since he's been pretty vocal about his opinions. I only reported that here to this topic since it seems like something people would been interested in.

Well, I don't think that it means there won't be one. It means that he has come down with a case of corporate amnesia.

I hope they still do it. The chances for an accurate Ocean release is slim, but it's a helluvalot slimmer if they don't do it at all <_<

If he was shut down by the higher ups, that would explain why he never came back here after after those initial 4 posts.

If it's true, then that means Scott would get to redo his Piccolo.

But if it's true, it also means the same crap they did during the series and movies with the Hanna-Barbera sounds. :(

True or not, from what I've heard both from here and on Sean's fan page, this new Ocean Dub sounds like it's going to be a major disappointment. I know some people are adamant about their love for Ocean and I'm not trying to start a "my version is better than yours" fight, but hearing that they are replacing the music and adding cheesy sound effects makes my stomach churn. I accept the mistakes made ten years ago, but times have changed and that sort of thing isn't acceptable at all. I'd like to see both dubs because I'm interested in comparing the two as releases go on, but if what Sean has said is true, then Funi's product is defiantly the superior product.

Who knows, Schemmel may have only seen the Broadcast version. As we all know, Funi's home version and their broadcasting version are two different products(both with censorship and dialog). Maybe Ocean is doing the same thing, hopefully that is the case.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

Well, I agree, even as a fan of some of the Ocean voices. The Funimation dub will definitely have an edge on any Ocean version that uses replacement music, that's for sure.

I don't see how there would be a home video version of the Ocean dub, though, since they'd probably end up getting the Funimation DVDs up there. The whole thing is very confusing.

That's interesting, so what would be the point of doing the dub in the first place? I'm not from Canada so I don't know how things work but are you sure they won't release a Ocean DVD/Blu-ray set with a cut of the Product going to Funimation(since they have the North America licensing rights)? I'd imagine most of the profit comes from DVD sales and not from Broadcasting on television; it sounds like a waste for Ocean to go out and do their own dub only to have Funimation steal the home release sales. Like you said, very confusing.

Well, it is just a rumor thus far. But maybe the dub is just for TV.

The Westwood dub of DBZ wasn't ever released on DVD or VHS, so broadcasting it must actually be quite profitable.

Actually, I think it's more the fact that they don't have a choice. Westwood doesn't have the home video rights to the series. FUNi has those in North America and I'm unsure who's got the Europe rights. So while they can make a dub, they're not allowed to release it to the home video market. Thus, TV is the only option.

The whole thing sounds like how it was back in the broadcast days of DBZ. FUNi's DBZ got home releases. Whoever it was that continued Ocean DBZ didn't. The end.

Had Westwood Media wanted, they could've gotten the rights. AB Groupe holds the rights for most of Europe, and they're the company that Westwood got the rights to dub DBZ from, so they could've gotten the rights at the same time. Maybe it was too expensive, though? Well, you'd think it'd be worth it since DBZ prints money.

Anyways, we don't even know what company licensed Kai. I'm hoping it's FUNi that's making the Ocean dub. It'd mean we'd the same awesome script for both voice casts. I'm being to hopeful, I know.
