I remember people complaining about their use of their "GT" logo in those sets...maybe they put the original logo in at least one episode for that.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:So, I noticed they used the "DragonBall Kai" logo and not the "DragonBall Z Kai" logo on the first episode. It's only on the first episode though. Kinda odd, no?
Probably not...but still...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Volume 1 Discussion
This seems appropriate to post here, since before there was a discussion about Autotune in Dragon Soul's dub. But, that was probably in the "Dragon Ball Kai Dub" thread, but I don't wanna awkward post this post when everyone else is discussing voices. Plus, with the English Dragon Soul being involved it probably counts as discussion for Volume 1.
I went and merged both the English and Japanese versions into one, to try and make it easier to find cases of Autotune, etc. Plus, it seems like something that people might be interested in:

I made sure they were synched exactly.

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Volume 1 Discussion
I think that's more likely to obscure the autotuning, rather than reveal more of it. I mean, the melody will of course be the same; the autotuning is based on an algorithm interpreting the performance, so the Japanese and English productions of the song are completely independent. Am I making any sense? I'm not sure if I'm wording what I'm trying to say properly.
Besides, if you can't tell the autotune is there, I'd call that a job well done. The problem is that, as I was casually listening to the English version for the first time, it jumped out at me like a sore thumb.

Ah, makes sense. I don't know, for Dragon Soul it helped for me. I guess it's just the person? But, odds are you're right. Just wanted to see if anybody could get anything out of listening to each other synched.ThunderPX wrote:I think that's more likely to obscure the autotuning, rather than reveal more of it. I noticed the Autotune like a sore thumb too. So, this is more for people how might notice if they couldn't. But, as you said, I may have obscured that, hahahaha.
But, out of the two I'm digging the English Version of Yeah! Break! compared to the English Dragon Soul.

6 minutes of new Gohan courtesy of TanookiKuribo. Also, I honestly think that Schemmel at the end is the worst I've ever heard. A lot of emotion, to be fair, but just... definitely not Goku. Would fit another character.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I cringe every time I hear Phil Parsons' Nappa.bkev wrote:6 minutes of new Gohan courtesy of TanookiKuribo. Also, I honestly think that Schemmel at the end is the worst I've ever heard. A lot of emotion, to be fair, but just... definitely not Goku. Would fit another character.
I'm going to re-watch Masako Nozawa's version of the scene (original Z) so I can get a feel for it before deciding on Schemmel's performance there.

New Gohan sounds really good, so does Piccolo, Kuririn, and Vegeta.
Nappa's....I'm kind of neutral on how he sounds.
Kinto'un has got such a fun sound effect noise. X3 It's more noticeable with no images to accompany it.
On hiatus.

Sabat's Piccolo is a lot better now, as well as his Vegeta, which is different-sounding now. I wonder what his Yamcha sounds like now. I'm definitely digging Clinkenbeard's Gohan. Very appropriate for the character.
Nappa sounds all right, I guess. Nothing special. I don't dislike his voice, though.

I must be the only one who really liked Nappa in that clip. I thought it fit big brutish Nappa pretty well. Also, Sean's Goku sounds more than tolerable, not bad at all!

How can you hate Schemmel's Goku so much yet not completely rip apart Sabat's Vegeta?penguintruth wrote:Sabat's Piccolo is a lot better now, as well as his Vegeta, which is different-sounding now. I wonder what his Yamcha sounds like now. Sabat is stepping up his game!

Yeah, I liked it as well. His line delivery was solid, and the voice sounds much less forced than it did previously in the Z dub.KaiserNeko wrote:I must be the only one who really liked Nappa in that clip. I thought it fit big brutish Nappa pretty well.

Everyone sounds better especially Sean. Though I wish Colleen kept that kid voice she had in the first few episodes. Also just watched re watched the Japanese version and it appears they added a bastard when it wasn't there originally.

I bear slight issue against Gohan's use of the word "totally", but otherwise everything sounds great. ^_^

I can't help but hear Luffy when Gohan speaks. Not a bad thing...but still. I'm just so used to Nadonly after all these years.
Also, I love Nappa's line "That's more like it, boy!" It's just so...awesome.
