So, I got to see all of Episode 8.

Absolutely loving it. Easily the best dub the show's ever gotten, with the possible exception of Movies 1-3. Everyone is in top form, definitely.

Also, this made me chuckle and wonder:

King Kai: Stronger or not, he'll never be able to compete with my comedy! I mean did you hear those jokes of his? Do they even hold a candle to mine!

Bubbles: *Claps patronizingly.*

King Kai: *Thinking to himself.* Oh, shut up Bubbles... Just shut up...

I could definitely see that as a nod to TFS. :3

The high quality OP screenshots! X3
How they make me wish and hope that eventually we'll get a new special or movie.
Also, it's so refreshing to see brunette Vegeta return after the whole weird "dark purple hair" thing they gave him in recent videogame artwork.

Wow, Toei really does love Goku; he's the only one who doesn't have a single bad animation shot in the new animation. Even in big group scenes where certain characters may look off, Goku still looks on-model. It's kind of funny.

Thank you for the screenshots, btw. They all look really cool. *_*

It's like they went and colored their rough draft. >_O

The other two shots that really bothered me:
dbkai1-bd-23.png
Look at Piccolo's face! And Yamcha's non-inked eyebrow. Everyone looks a little off except Goku.

Also, the quick artwork here makes Mr. Popo's expression look creepy:

Mod edit: Don't hotlink off FBR- they can find the images in the review or repost them elsewhere. Plus we don't need 1080p images embedded like that, especially since each one is nearly 2 megs.

Mr. Popo is always creepy.

They both look completely fine.

I've noticed some of you guys go through Kai with a fine tooth-comb looking for things to bitch about.

I ended up writing another article after noticing differences on the DVD.

I'll let it speak for itself.

Yeah that's the point.
Any animation has lots of wonky frames, when you just randomly pause during fast motion.

Why does Funimation always feel like they have to fucking brighten everything?

Funi's blu-ray just seems to have the saturation up slightly compared to the Japanese one.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

is it possible that funimation give us an update maybe via bd-live in order to make the font size bigger ???

is it technically possible or do i have sth. missunderstood ?
The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

Technically subtitle tracks can be delivered via BD-Live, but this disk does not have BD-Live on it.

Or were you talking about the font of the menu? If so, I've never heard of an actual menu update via BD-Live, so I don't know if it is actually possible.

It may be worth mentioning for those of you without BD players, I plan to do a review and screencaps for the DVD tomorrow.

Maybe if Gohan were just sitting there in clear view like that not really moving or anything for a few seconds, I would hate that shot. However, that's on screen for a portion of a second while he falls off of it into his dad's arms in a high-motion scene. Weird proportions are given to stuff like that all the time in high-motion scenes. It's the shots you get a real good look at that are given the real attention.

If such weren't the case, the still shots of Gohan in the newest opening would look just like this split-second shot of Gohan you capped.

Well that didn't take long.

I broke down and bought it.

Although I prefer the Japanese track I'm actually looking more forward to watching the dub for this release. From what I have read I should expect good things.

---

I'm still buying the Dragonboxes... I want them to release the movies in DBOX quality.

And don't say we didn't try man! Back in the 70's or so we really did try to change over, it just didn't work ^^;

I'll stop poking my nose in here being off topic now, it's not as if I'd be buiying the thing.
