Yes, we're all aware Burst Limit is less shoddy-looking than the Sparking games, allowing the mouthflaps to look like actual mouths moving, and that Schemmel can say "son."

Or "Sahn" at least... It's a step in the right direction.

Mouth flaps in video games are very different from anime dubbing. Never having played Burst Limit, I was extremely impressed by the acting and accuracy of the script in that scene. There's only so much you can do with CGI (even cel-shaded CGI) to match the mouth flaps. It's more important in those cases to have a solid script and really nail the voice acting, which Sean and Linda (unless you just don't like her as Freeza) did in that clip.

Be glad he didn't say "Sean". Joking aside, the accuracy in this script such as the conversation between Goku and Vegeta just simply astounds me, accurate DBZ Anime in English!

Is it too early to ask if the hardcore dub fans outside Daizex are digging Kai or not?

I don't see why they wouldn't.
Its the same dub actors they had before, now with an accurate script.

Yeah, but that could also be interpreted as "some of our nostalgic actors replaced alongside a script different from the one we grew up on." Some people don't want accuracy. They want Bruce Faulconer and bad dubbing.

I'd just like to note, it wasn't me this time.

But I don't disagree.

And I think the only thing those video game clips have going for them is a more accurate script.

I'm a hardcore dub fan who can appreciate the Japanese version. I don't like bad dubbing (and I openly acknowledge that many of the Season 3 lines were cringe-worthy), but I do like Bruce Faulconer's score. My academic credentials also unequivocally indicate that I am anything but stupid, and the same can be said of many of my friends in law school and medical school who also prefer Faulconer's music. Do not misunderstand; I am not taking it personally. Simply put, stupidity is evidenced by holding one's opinion as fact.

EDIT: [/impact]

As for my thoughts on Kai, I absolutely love it. Gohan took a bit of getting used to, but I don't mind his voice (and it does sound more age-appropriate). The script fantastic, and the acting is generally top-notch. There were a few lines here and there that were poorly delivered, but the overall quality is 100x better than anything originally provided. The dubbed opening and ending aren't quite as strong as the Japanese versions, but I like them both enough. Personally, I cannot wait to see the next volume's episodes.

You've been listening to the ones on YouTube haven't you?

All I want as a dub fan is an accurate script and a Linda Young replacement. Then I'll be satisfied as it's really simple for me.

Perhaps the 'stupidity' comment was a little much, I apologise.

But the replacement of DBZ's score with generic rock music, complete with a haphazardly translated script isn't really something we want to remember, is it?

To be fair some people really don't care about the Japanese DBZ. It was just a cool weekday cartoon from their youth.

I've always been of the mindset if you don't care about what's been done wrong, you shouldn't care when someone goes to fix it.

How does that make any sense? If you don't care that it's 'wrong' then you like it the way it is, so if it gets 'fixed' then obviously you'd care, because it's not what you liked.

Anyway, while all I've seen still are clips, I'm still not sold on the new Gohan. It's better, in some ways, than Nadolny's, but in others, not so much. The voice is just too high and grating in most of the clips I've seen. It's annoying.

And Rial's Bulma has been horrible in every line I've heard from her. Not sure why everyone seems to like her so much. :?

Rial's Bulma is the best voice the role of Bulma has ever had in English. Rial captures her irritatible nature, but without sounding like a brainless valley girl like Vollmer's version. I think that over time her Bulma will be absolutely flawless, because Rial is truly an excellent VA. Not only is her voice right, but her acting skills are great.

I think it was pretty justified.

If you're over 11 years old and you want to hear Krillin say "Destructo Disc", something ain't working right in your head.

If you're over 11 years old and you care whether Krillin says "Kienzan" or "Destructo Disc", something ain't working right in your head.
