Am I the only person who doesn't think penguintruth has impossibly high standards? He has been heaping on the praise with this Kai dub so far. It seems his main beef is with Schemmel's Goku, and even though I don't always agree, I can certainly respect that.
Penguintruth's main beef is Schemmel and anything he does. He didn't like any of Schemmel's roles or his rendition of Dragon Soul.

His Onsokumaru in Ninja Nonesense was fairly good, actually. I laughed heartily.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Onsokumaru is the only reason I bought that series. I normally don't go for the cutesy fanservice shows but Schemmel's Onsokumaru was too good to pass up.

Well there is no medicine for stupidity.
So someone who likes a different BGM for a cartoon show is stupid. I'm begining to think you're the one who's stupid.

Relax, he already apologized and said the comment was too much.

Besides...calling him "stupid" back doesn't help anything.

The reason I got fired up is because that was a prime example of the elitism sub fans show to dub fans.

But I apologize.

I watched that preview clip video, and had him as worst voice of the main cast. Then I heard "King Kai" speak - dear God, what were they thinking?

But seriously, every time I heard him talk I mistook him for Raditz or Nappa. It's an almost comically wrong voice.

You're not. He goes overboard sometimes, but it happens. Like shit, if I got started talking about my feelings on Sabat I'd sound a lot nastier than PenguinTruth ever does <_< There are just certain things people feel very strongly on, and that would be his particular tipping point.

Oh yes, and on Black Lady- she is wearing black. Seriously. It's a color, we should be allowed to say name of said color without people screaming RACISSSSMM!!! every time. I did not assume immediately that Gandalf the White was a comment on his skin color.

Did anyone else find Nappa's reaction to when Gohan said he smells hilarious?

Wasn't meaning racism, but more guys seeing a pink haired Japanese woman calling herself Black Lady might be a little confused, and leading to jokes saying, "Despite what she says, she doesn't look like a sista to me." You knew someone would've said something like that or made other bad jokes if that was kept.

I really don't feel like sifting through 120+ pages to figure this out, so I'll just ask straight up; is the new Kai dub accurate to the original Japanese script?

It's near dead on accurate to the Japanese script.

It's not dead-on, but it's very accurate. There's a few liberties taken here and there, but they're few and far between and they really try to stick to the real script this time around.

Yeah, I'll admit I was slightly disappointed when Gohan said he smells, but al that went away when Nappa showed how much he cares about his smell.

Well, it can't be 100% dead-on, unless you want the Speed Racer effect.

Put it this way, we wouldn't be caring about it.

It's very accurate to the Japanese script, it's seriously the only dub I've cared for(well..next to the awesomeness of the Mexican dub)
The characters sound great, some hates, and some loves. I'm actually enjoying the dub this time around.
