I wonder how many of those Anniversaries Goku has actually been present in.

Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!

Re: Goku and Chi-Chi's Anniversary (?)
I understood that. However unlike Astro Boy (who's creation date was revealed in-story), we don't have in-universe proof that it was May 7th (AFAIK). Also, since a previous post stated that it may not have even been May 7th, I see no reason not to use the original air date it was shown (IMO). At least we know when that happened. The Tori-bot wrote:We be talkin' in-universe, boy. It's not the first time fans of a show have celebrated an event within that show based on air date. Even today we receive DVD releases, specials, what have you, to commemorate a show's air date (if not the day, at least the month it aired).
However, that is my opinion. But I would be more than willing to change that opinion if you can provide a verifiable in-story wedding date.

I proves it doesn't take place in April, unless you think Gohan was already born by the time they got married.the_abberration wrote:And this proves the wedding took place in May how??Rocketman wrote:The World Tournament takes place in May.

Re: Goku and Chi-Chi's Anniversary (?)
Although it's possible Gohan could be a bastard, I could concede to that point. But since my post was trying to support the air date being used, I will provide this as further support:Rocketman wrote:It proves it doesn't take place in April, unless you think Gohan was already born by the time they got married.
If Goku and Chi Chi were married on April 12th and Gohan was conceived in April and went to term, that would put his birth in January correct?
Coincidentally, this episode aired on January 20, 1993
So they were married April 12th, Gohan was conceived on April 20th, and celebrates his birthday on Jan 20th.

But, until he fought her in the tournament, Goku hadn't even seen Chi-Chi since they were kids.

Re: Goku and Chi-Chi's Anniversary (?)
I'm not referring to April as in-story, rather April as air date. Look at it like this. Shows like soap operas for example, tend to use air date time as in-story time. So April in air date time would equal April in soap time. Although this rule gets broken from time to time with SORAS.Big Momma wrote:But, until he fought her in the tournament, Goku hadn't even seen Chi-Chi since they were kids.
In-story we do not know the exact date Goku and Chi Chi got married, since May 7th (and quite possibly the month of May period) was more or less ruled out. Also, there is a possibility (however slight) that Gohan was born prior to their nuptials.
What I am saying is, with a lack of a true in-story date, using the air time date would equal Dragon Ball time (weather it was May, June, the fifth of Shazzbot, what have you) in-story.
In other words, whatever date Goku and Chi Chi got married would equal April 12th our world time. Gohan's birthday (whatever month it was in-story) would equal Jan 20th our world time.
Again that is just my opinion, until an actual in-story date is revealed.
