Z's ending was too abrupt for my liking. His sudden departure with Uub was basicly one big "f*ck you" towards the rest of the gang. Why would he want to train Uub far away from everyone else anyway?
GT's ending also has that element of Goku suddenly leaving, but at least he has a reason (an ambiguous one, but still, a reason). And Cipher's analysis from earlier in this thread basicly makes the ending of GT seem like it makes sense. At least to me, it feels like an appropriate clossure.

Re: Ending of DragonBall GT
I'll say this about the Z vs GT ending:
The 28th Tenkaichi Budokai is the perfect ending for Goku's character. It really is. He's done everything and beaten everyone, and finally, after ten years wasting away, he's found something to entertain himself again. It's really joyous and not at all as abrupt and shoehorned as people make it out to be. It's an excellent epilogue and right in tone with the rest of the series.
But the series isn't called "Goku." It's called Dragon Ball. And the characters' increasing dependence upon those objects, coupled with obscure warnings from Kami and Old Kai dropped throughout the run, makes that a rather large theme to leave dangling. So GT is a better ending for the series as a whole, if unusually somber.

Re: Ending of DragonBall GT
Who cares about the series actual name? The series starts and finishes with Goku`s story. It is much more a series about Goku than it is about the Dragon Balls.Cipher wrote:

Therefore, as you stated, the actual ending of the manga is pretty good.

Uh, yeah. I do think the manga's ending is pretty good. Which is, you know, why I said that. But it's not just about the title; it leaves a major theme unaddressed.rereboy wrote:Who cares about the series actual name? The series starts and finishes with Goku`s story. A-are you trying to tell me which ending I prefer?
