I thought it was great. Goku spends an episode faffing about like a goober, while Vegeta's all "pfft, i was doing this shit before my balls dropped" and BAM jumps to SS4 like it ain't no thang.LilKokuLink wrote:Pretty much why I put cheating in speech marks, I just didn't like the way he got to SSJ4 you know? I was hoping for another amazing 3 minutes like we got with Goku's first super saiyajin transformation, Trunks' emotional switch in the TV special and something along the lines of Goku turning super oozaru.

I love the music and animation.
The the only reason why I don't like GT is because Goku's a kid. I prefer adult Goku.

Re: Why Do You Like GT?
I liked GT right off the bat because of how laid back it was, there wasn't action every 5 seconds. Keep in mind that I saw the Blue Water dub and not the one from Funimation, so I grew up watching it with the original music, which I think helped.
It had a lot more comedy than Z, which was nice, and the animation was nice and crisp. I liked the story as well, it was just so crazy that it was actually good, in my opinion. Now all Funimation needs to do is release Dragon Box GT, and I'm all set!

Animation and music, that's basically it for me. Some things regarding the story were "meh" at best. The ideas are great, just wish it were out longer so the ideas could mesh better.
But I digress, animation and music is what I like about GT.

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"

Re: Why Do You Like GT?
Take Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Grab a writer/group of writers who see the Dragon Ball franchise from muchunexplored angles. Get Toriyama to do some designs. Add a beautifully done "Galactic-Japanese RPG"-like musical score for the BGM. Throw in lots of surrealism and great animation. That's GT, and that's why I love it.
Re: Why Do You Like GT?
I didn't like GT as a whole, but since the Idea of this thread seems to be that we focus on the positive, I'll talk about what parts I DO like about it.
I loved the Music, the BGMs and Themes, they were extremely good.
The animation was really good.
And the Character designs were kinda hit and miss, I mean.... Vegeta's mustache... but there were some really good ones like SS4. I just wish Son had returned to being an adult permanently after achieving SS4. It felt odd that there was never a logical explanation for why he SUDDENLY grew up for SS4 and then grew back down when he went back to base...

You know that was supposed to look bad, right? The whole idea was he'd gotten old and frumpy. Like most of the cast, which I think is a neat idea.DemonRin wrote:And the Character designs were kinda hit and miss, I mean.... Vegeta's mustache...
EDIT - And I love how this keeps being brought up when you have legendary examples like Gohan's rat-tail, Yamcha's bowl cut, and Bulma's afro. Vegeta's mustache is just one of the last in a long line of hilariously ugly Toriyama designs.

I watched the Blue Water dub also and the fact that I love the original music but prefer the FUNimation voice cast was like torture to me, until they released the Season Sets which in reaction I jumped up in the air with joy and never came back down.Echo64 wrote:Keep in mind that I saw the Blue Water dub and not the one from Funimation, so I grew up watching it with the original music, which I think helped.

Personally, I think GT is bashed at much more than it deserves. I'm glad somebody made a thread to look at the positive aspects of GT.Goku100xKamehameha wrote:Wow! there's actually a lot of people who actually likes GT

Wait, what is Bulma's afro hairstyle? The hairstyle she had when Trunks first arrived?
One thing I forgot to mention, the montage at the end of GT is probably my favourite scene in any Dragon Ball anime. I actually she a tear the first time I saw it, no lie.

Re: Why Do You Like GT?
While I don't consider GT to really be a part of the Dragon Ball universe personally there are a few things I did like about Dragon Ball GT.
The first thing I did like about the Dragon Ball GT series was the direction the early episodes went in. It reminded me so much of Dragon Ball's since of adventure that was missing in Dragon Ball Z.
As for the second thing I like about Dragon Ball GT is that I loved a lot of the concepts from the series. The Bebi and Shadow Dragon arcs were great concepts but as for the execution of those two arcs they really dropped the ball, in my opinion.
For the third, and final (for now), thing I liked about GT was the ending. I think the ending was easily better than that of Dragon Ball Z.
Those three reasons are why I do have some fondness for Dragon Ball GT. If I can come up with anything else I like about Dragon Ball GT I'll come back and edit my post later.

It really, really is. But it's a special kind of bad, the kind where if you just lean back and accept it, it'll roll on unhindered.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:It's really not as bad as everyone gives it credit for.Goku100xKamehameha wrote:Wow! there's actually a lot of people who actually likes GT
Apply the tiniest smidgen of thought to it, however, and it collapses like a card house.

Yeah, it is. I can see where some people who don't like it are coming from, since I don't think the hairstyle ever really suited her (which is probably why we only ever saw it the one time), but I thought it was a nice character design change and was more different than her other hairstyle changes.Kid Buu wrote:Wait, what is Bulma's afro hairstyle? Seriously, there aren't enough plotholes to actually detract from the viewing experience of GT. It's still the same Dragon Ball we know and love, with the characters we know and love, just with a few continuity errors.

Re: Why Do You Like GT?
People complain about this, but I've never seen anyone complain about the continuity of Pokemon. Plotholes galore.
Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!
Re: Why Do You Like GT?
I don't think Pokemon is the standard you want in anime.
