Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Yes, they are.
In this case is just to explain that, even though Buu appears to be just standing still in space, he is actually pursuing Brolly at axactly the same speed. Or, at least, he was, before Vegetto turned up.
Otherwise it would look like they are not moving at all.
And that`s why the English translation of the page sucked. It completely missed the meaning.

The idea that this Buu became strong from absorbing whole populations doesn't seem like it could be quite right when you consider how Buu's absorption works. This isn't Cell where a little nutrients is gained and the person dies. When Buu absorbs a person, they're literally kept inside him. They may be only one thousandth of their normal size, but surely there's no way he'd have room for billions of people in there. Not to mention the fact that even if he absorbed a hundred people per second at a nonstop rate, just reaching a billion absorptions would take over thirty years. lol And judging from the latest page it sounds like this Buu only absorbs people he finds to be "worthy".

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Yeah that's what I was thinking. So it's likely that he only absorbed the Z fighters, also take into account that whenever Buu absorbs someone he gains some of their physical features. This Buu looks exactly like he did when absorbed Gohan, but I am surprised that he doesn't have Tien's third eye.(unless of course he didn't consider him worthy.)Metrite wrote:The idea that this Buu became strong from absorbing whole populations doesn't seem like it could be quite right when you consider how Buu's absorption works. It's not too late. One day, it will be.

No, he only gets the physical characteristics and clothing of the most powerful person he absorbed. That is the dominant. And there isn`t anyone in him stronger than Mystic Gohan.
Btw, I now think its unlikely for this Buu to have absorbed beings who weren`t exceptional, given his comment of "being worthy of being absorbed".

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
What exactly is your point? The science they've "put in" hasn't been anything more than you'd find in another anime or comic book. Heck, even Dragon Ball throws in a little (sometimes broken) real world science sometimes; Dr. Brief describing how Goku's ship creates gravity using its acceleration, for instance.Senzu_Bean wrote:DBM creators are really trying to put science in Dragonball. It is the second time now.
Thanks for pointing that out. The English line made no sense to me the way it was.rereboy wrote:It should read "relative velocity" or "relative speed" instead of "instant transmission".

Maybe you should email the creators and ask them to correct the mistake.rereboy wrote:

You just have to check the other translations and the French version to spot the mistake.

I still don't see how this Buu can be leagues above Vegetto, it just doesn't add up to me. Maybe it's just Buu being extreamly cocky thanks to Vegeta.

my thoughts exactly. This is just Buu cockiness. But getting it from Vegeta. nahhhh He's been a Cocky little shit ever since he absorbed Gotenks and Piccolo.goku the krump dancer wrote:I still don't see how this Buu can be leagues above Vegetto, it just doesn't add up to me. I'm not sure... He doesn't seem cocky, he actually seems pretty confident, if not absolutely sure. You'll understand it better in the next pages... but then out of nowhere! Another chapter about Broli! Yay! *internal bleeding*Zionist wrote:my thoughts exactly. This is just Buu cockiness. What? Is this one a Movie 10 recap?...DNA wrote:Another chapter about Broli! Yay! *internal bleeding*

rereboy wrote:Anyway, change of topic. Salagir has commented on page 230 of the manga that the next chapter will also be a special chapter and that it will be a retelling of Brolly`s second coming.
My personal comment: F#ck.
He also added that there are at least 10 special chapters being drawn at the moment.
I actually don`t mind the special chapters... But I`m pretty sure all of them are more interesting than this one regarding Brolly`s second coming.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Cripes, no kidding, huh?rereboy wrote:And that`s why the English translation of the page sucked. It completely missed the meaning.
Original French Version:
Avec la magie de la vitesse relative, nous sommes immobiles l'un par rapport à l'autre...
Direct Translation:
With the magic of the speed relative, we are immobile the one in regards to the other...
Contextual Translations:
1) Because of the magic of relative velocity, we are immobilized from the point of view of the other...
2) Thanks the magic of relative velocity, the distance separating one from the other remains indivisible...
Dayspring's Prefered Translation:
With the magic of relative velocity, we remain inaproachable from one to the other...
Avec la magie clearly means ''with the magic,'' but that just doesn't quite make sense in English in regards to the rest of the sentence. A better way to preserve the tone would be to swap ''with'' for something along the lines of ''thanks to,'' as ''with'' in this context means ''caused by.'' However, if they wanted to more accurately imply that, they would have said either causée par (literally ''caused by''), à cause du (''because of the'') or even graçe à (''thanks to''). ''With the magic'' may technically be wrong in English (as nothing is being put with the magic), but you get what's being implied without any confusion anyway, so I think it's worth keeping as is. I find it's like saying ''It's raining''; nobody ever implies the 'it' to mean 'the cloud above our heads', but you know exactly what's being said even though it's technically inapropriate grammar.
Meanwhile ''immobile'' in English always means motionless, which doesn't capture the tone at all, in my opinion. That context doesn't even hint at the gap being perpetually the same, which is probably what Boo is refering to, considering he stops and wonders how he's going to get to Broly and since Broly rotated a full 180 degrees in the time it took to say that he was motionless, implying that he doesn't look motionless at all.
So I really don't mind changes to the sentence being made, as the original is clearly a case of the author trying to use a diction for Boo that is higher than his own. L'un par rapport à l'autre means ''the one in regards to the other'', but he clearly uses the words ''relative speed'' instead of relative velocity, even though he's sort of defining what relative velocity entails. That's like saying ''the thingy's size'' instead of ''the volume of the object'' and still trying to sound sophisticated.
The only part that bugs me is how they randomly threw in instant transmission. That just fucks things up even moreso.
End Rant

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Is this Buu actually stronger than Vegetto? Fo' real, for real? If so, why does he want to absorb somebody who's clearly weaker, and/or on par with Vegetto?
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
To be even stronger.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I never thought Buu's absorption worked as in additions. I always pictured it was averaged.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
No, because then Gotenks Boo wouldn't be a threat to Gohan.Innagadadavida wrote:I never thought Buu's absorption worked as in additions. I always pictured it was averaged.
Absorptions seem to vary per person absorbed. Some make him stronger, others smarter, others change his personality. General rule is that each person absorbed makes him stronger.
EDIT: Dai Kaioshin seems to be the only time someone made him weaker.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
In the case of Dai Kaioshin, it may have been because as the leader of the group of god's his goodness cancelled out much of Buu's evil power. Just a theory though . . .Dayspring wrote:No, because then Gotenks Boo wouldn't be a threat to Gohan.Innagadadavida wrote:I never thought Buu's absorption worked as in additions. Anyway, on the most recent page, it seems Buu just got busted!
