actually I like the TV version more, the DVD version is kinda dull

The TV version has a sort of 'Orange Brick' look while the DVD version has more of a 'Dragonbox' look.

I'm kind of leaning toward the TV version too. I mean...it's not that big of a deal to me, but the contrast/brightness(?) on the DVD pic looks a little low. Maybe if it was raised just a tad...

That's how the original animation looked though. Raising the contrast makes the darker and lighter details harder to make out, and sometimes even loses some details entirely (though not nearly to the extent of FUNimation's Orange Bricks).

Goku's hair is supposed to be a dark gray color, not pure black (that's why you can see a black outline around his hair). The Kai footage looks like the Dragon Boxes, but with some noise reduction and the colors corrected to remove the color-casts. It looks closer to the original cels, which were colored that way. Also, on the TV version, Goku's blue undershirt and the sky are a bit too dark for my tastes due to the contrast bump.

I'm not doubting that at all. And as I said, it's not even a big deal. If it weren't even brought up, then I wouldn't care in the slightest. Both look nice, I'm just saying that the TV version looks a tad better, IMO.
