DB: Heya! Son Goku and Friends Return!! (Fandub Planning)

So, I've be set on making a fandub since it doesn't appear that FUNimation is going to even dub this for awhile. I'm still in the process of adapting the script, but that's also why I made this thread to get your help. I wanna make sure I've got no slip-ups on pronunciation, consistency.

But, this is more of a straight dubbing of the Japanese terms. Muten Roshi, Son Goku, all Japanese Attack names instead of translating half-leaving half-alone (at least attack-wise). Using the correct pronunciation for Saiyan, etc.

So, here's an audio file from what I've got the pronunciations as, I'll post the text too to follow along. Feel free to correct me or even call me out on a pronunciation as long as it's done properly. None of the "OMG, you fucking got it wrong, what the hell!!!"

With Table and Gure I went with what I'd personally use as the pronunciations since those 2 are still technically open for debate.

Pronounciations:
Son (Goku): Sohn
Kamehameha: Kah-meh-ha-meh-ha
Muten (Roshi): Moo-ten
Saiyan: Sigh-an
Makankosappo: Mah-kahn-ko-sah-ppoh
Kienzan: Key-eh-n-zah-n
Rogafufu-ken: Roh-gah-foo-foo-keh-n
Videl: Vee-del
Table: Tah-ble
Gure: Grey
Sokidan: Soh-ki-dah-n
Chashu: Ch-ya-shoo
Haikyuken: High-kyoo-keh-n

(I may have typed it out different than I meant to pronounce it; but, I pronounced it how I would regardless in the audio file).

I also went and adapted a few gags to the point I've gotten to, about 6-8 mintues in.

I adapted "Urigome" as "Say Turtle", to be the answer to "Umigame" as "Sea Turtle".

I also added the slight hick emphasis to Goku and Chi-Chi, I'll put some examples below of how they'll speak.

Goku: Huh? No, I ain't havin' any interest in goin'
Goku: *With his mouth full* Ya guys can go if you want. I ain't gonna care.
Goku: *In background when Gohan's talking in his mind*
Ain't that right, hahaha!

Chi-Chi: That's just how they always bein'.

Since Chi-Chi has no where as many lines there isn't as much to slightly "hick" up in her dialouge.

Example of the Sea Turtle bit:

Goku: Hey, if it ain't "Say Turtle".
Sea Turtle: You never change Goku. I'm Sea Turtle.

There is a part that I know I'll be clueless on how to adapt, "Romper Room is over"... Yeah, a bit clueless there.

This is all pre-voice acting stuff. I'll be post an audition thread here and at the VAA when it comes time for that.

Also, since I don't have the DVD version I'll need to find a video source. I could probably find one on my own, but that could help too.

If you're going to dub it, I don't think "Son (Goku): Sohn" should be anywhere near that project.

I can see what you're saying. But, it would really only be used where it was used in spots where it was used the Original. Plus, I don't know it would be something new in a dub in my opinion. I may have write out the pronunciation for Son and the "h" usually just makes that easier to see.

But, you're probably saying just don't use Son 'cause it's probably awkward for an English dub, fandub or not.

That was discussed back when the special was new, and as I remember it just more or less means, "playtime's over." As in, "now I'm gonna get serious."

Thank you! Much easier to adapt now. Yeah, I remember they said something about it on the Podcast, but I couldn't remember exactly what it was.
