With what happened on Namek the wish was to bring back everyone who died at the hands of Frieza and his henchmen. At first I thought it was kind of a plothole that the two soldiers of Frieza's that he killed himself weren't brought back, but then again he didn't kill any of his men in the manga.

Actually, it was the wish to bring back those killed by Majin Buu too. Bulma and the others didn't want to revive Vegeta (if Goku had killed him and he was evil again, etc...) and later, Vegeta didn't want to revive Babidi or Dabura.

Did they say that in the anime or the manga?

And concerning the "plothole" of ppl in space being revived and such, I believe it was Toriyama's forgetfulness, but it wouldn't really matter. They would die the second they were brought to life, why bother showing that?

Never read the manga, so it's in the anime. The dub at least. It was Bulma's idea IIRC.

As for that plothole, it's not a plothole, it's just a case of forgetfulness. I can sorta picture Goku's face suddenly going slack a few weeks later as he realizes what they did in the heat of the battle... poor guy. XD

Anyone notice that Kid Buu blew up several planets killing billions before going to the Other World? Vegeta's wish would have brought them all back, in the cold void of space...) Er, anyway, ya, the problem would have been there.
That's only in the anime. In the manga, just after he destroyed Earth, he went after Goku and Vegeta.

He didnt even want to revive Raditz because he felt him useless. He also didnt care when the entire planet was wiped out as a child it was more like an uninteresting note to him.
I'm pretty sure he changed his view when he was killed by Freeza on Namek, and when he told Goku that a Saiyan must kill Freeza. It's been a while since I last saw and read that part, but I got the impression he actually cared for his people deep down and wanted revenge for them one way or another.

Course, I could have just misunderstood what was going on.

Bulma never said anything about not wanting Vegeta alive in the Japanese version of the anime, and if the dub made her say that, thats a pretty big liberty to take with her character.

EDIT: Just checked the scene in question here is the comparison:

In the original:

Bulma: As long as we don't know where everyone is, I think that first we should bring back to life all those spectators that were killed as a result of Vegeta. I... feel so sorry for them...

In the dub:

Bulma: He (Vegeta) might need to be wished back to life, but I don't think I'd want to wish him back!
