I just received my set in the mail. Watching it will have to wait, though, as I'm currently smack dab in the middle of a GT marathon.

In case you're unaware, I'm writing a fanfiction called, "DragonBall GT: Revised." This current marathon of the original is research. Putting myself in harm's way so as to give the world something better.

Sounds like I'll get my DB Kai from Borders around the same time.

Eheheh... not quite at "joined" yet. Somebody at MEPS doesn't like me.

But this is a tad off-topic. So how 'bout that Garlic Jr. arc, huh? Anyone else expect to skip it like me because not even DragonBox quality can make it good?

I watched the entire forty-two episodes of the set. The Garlic Jr. arc wasn't too bad, they probably could have cut an episode though.

Well, I did watch that one episode where he says, "PEEK-A-BOO!! COME TO BIG DADDY GARLIC!!!!" but that's it. That's the only reason to even watch that saga.

The copy I ordered from Amazon a few days ago came today.

I'm only towards the end of disc three of the second box, but I immediately opened it to check, and, as I expected, I got a copy that uses tape to stick the "LOLZ, DRAGON BOX" flyer to the outside.

After 20 minutes of exposing it to a hairdryer, and rubbing it with a warm, damp rag, I managed to get it off (and destroy the flyer :P). It did manage to tear off a minor area, and a couple of grain-of-sand sized specks, but nothing I can't live with.

Looking forward to actually watching these episodes in Japanese, since, despite owning the third orange brick, I never touched it.

On the second episode of the Trunks Saga now, watching uncut/Japanese for the first time. Yeah, I kept falling asleep during the last two or three episodes of the Garlic Jr. Saga. Boring, irrelevant filler. This story arc was slightly more bearable in Japanese than Funimation's dub though.

Lies.

I'm almost at Garlic Jr. I watched recently it so I'll probably skip it. Although I may skim through certain scenes.

This is exactly how I feel. It's fairly entertaining, but it could have been condensed into six episodes, easily.

Also, Garlic Jr. is actually a fairly creepy character in Japanese, which I never realized before.

I think the Garlic Jr. arc was good until the actual fighting started. Once that happened, it was basically, "Well, wait around until Gohan does something." The fighting was horrible. The heroes get their asses kicked, including Gohan, but when the plot demands it, he can kill the Monarchs with a single blow!

But all the stuff at Kame House, seeing the characters screw around, and shop, and have relationships, all that was good.

But spot checking the dub didn't really make any sense. In the original, Kuririn, after failing to get the pearl, comes to the realization that he simply cannot satiate the material desires of a woman like Maron. He doesn't have the resources to make her happy, so he breaks up with her. In the dub, "if you love something, let it go." Umm... why? Because it was in the script, of course! He fails to get the pearl, and, for some unexplained reason, this means he has to break up with Maron. Is it like ritualistic suicide brought on by shame? Is he unable to disassociate the angry fish from Maron? Did he feel too much like "the Ginyu Force" (yeesh, that analogy!)? I don't know. It's never explained. He just has to do it for some reason, and do it he does!

His original voice was much better, though. Watch Z movie 1 in Japanese too, if you haven't.

I watched the Garlic arc through on my super awesome japanese Dragonbox Z 1. It was still terrible.

Just finished the box and I can't wait for Dbox 4 since it'll have all the awesome stuff on it and less crap.

Dbox 1 had the crappy fake Namek arc
Dbox 2 had Bulma vs. The Crab
Dbox 3 had Garlic Jr.

Dbox 4 should have everything from the 19 and 20 fights to Goku and Gohan getting out of the Room of spirit and time. Oh my! :D

Actually, in terms of content, I'd say Box 3 has had the biggest peaks and valleys, with quite a few more valleys than either of the previous two. Sure you have Goku's SSJ, Vegeta's death, and the appearance of Trunks (as well as an awesome end of box cliffhanger), but you also have the annoyingly padded and somewhat uninspired Goku vs. Freeza and the Garlic Jr. arc, which combined, take up the majority of the set. Not saying that I didn't end up enjoying every redundant frame (except maybe episode 98... that one was just terrible and useless), but I do remember having to steady myself before going into it. "Please let me actually enjoy this," I told myself.

Is the Goku/Piccolo driving episode on this Box? I don't think I've ever seen that episode (or just don't remember) and I'd like to see it again.

Also I'd like to note when I first saw the Garlic Jr saga on TV I loved it, probably because Gohan was my favourite at the time. I wonder if my opinion on the arc will change during the rewatch.

It ends with the first episode of the Artificial Humans arc, so it's on there.

Huh, I wasn't aware that this was his second voice. To this day, I have not seen the first movie in Japanese (or anything except movies 7, 8, and 9). Probably going to wait for news of a DragonBox release, or lack thereof, before I do.
