Why Two English "Dragon Soul"s?: OFFICIAL EXPLANATION
For a while, a lot of us have been speculating on why there are two English versions of the song, "Dragon Soul." There's a longer one sung by Sean Schemmel (as heard on the uncut DVDs and Blu-Rays), and a shorter one sung by Vic Mignogna (as heard on the TV broadcast). Well, somebody posted something on Chris Sabat's facebook fan page that explains it:
It started when one fan asked why there are two different versions, and Sabat said he didn't know, because it wasn't his call. Yet another fan replied to that, saying that he emailed Vic asking him, and that Vic responded with this:
"I was asked to sing it by Funimation. Sean decided to record a version himself. At first, Funimation thought it would be cool to use his. So they put that on the DVD. But then I think they decided that mine had more commercial appeal, so they used it for the broadcast. They just asked me to tweak the vocal to give it a bit more grit. My original was a cleaner tone like the original.
Sean's version is awesome. I'm just glad to have gotten my version used in some way!
vic"
Some people (including myself) sensed that Vic sounded different than he usually does when he sings, like he was "trying to sound cool." Interestingly enough, apparently that was by direction.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Uh... this was already discussed here, and I believe the person who emailed Vic was actually a user here.

Ah, so it was "spiced" up commercial appeal. Why do they keep on insisting they need to "spice" up Dragon Ball? I thought those days were over.

I'm sorry if that's the case. I looked for threads or posts discussing it and couldn't find any, so I just made one myself. Feel free to post a link to the original thread.

It was in the final page of the "Dragon Soul Dub Lyrics" thread.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Metalwario64 wrote:Uh... this was already discussed here, and I believe the person who emailed Vic was actually a user here.
