You're squinting too hard, it's blurring your vision. The characters look ass and the environments look the same.
I know, how dare he have a different opinion from you? The bloody cheek!

Okay, so the characters look kinda ass, but in my opinion the environments look to be an improvement...!

Also, four shillings on the new animated scenes being for a game that hasn't been announced yet.

Why are so many people so quick to bash a game based on it's graphics? Does nobody care about gameplay anymore?
We haven't had a video of gameplay yet so don't be so quick to jump the gun on this game, it would be like me saying Burst Limit 2 is going to suck when we haven't even seen it in action (that is assuming a BL2 will be made).

This game has fine graphics, the environments look sweet and the models are something new. There is no need to be so arrogant as to bash a game when it is still in development just because the creators aren't tailoring that game for your needs.

Just putting this out there:

Image

The RB2 characters look more sleek, round and more detailed than the RB1 characters. And not mention the stages look way more detailed and beautiful.

People say it will be the same gameplay wise (which it will with slight pointless changes)), not graphics.

It helps to show comparison shots of the same environments, it makes for a better comparison. Also Goku's left leg in Raging Blast 2 doesn't make any sense anatomically speaking.

It does, but you have to be vary flexible I assume. Between those 2 comparison shots I see not much difference in improvement, just style. It would be nice to see some more, perhaps of similar poses if there are any.

Like this.
To me there is not much improvement in the background either. It still looks flat.
Sorry if the images are too big.

The texture in the rocks is a nice improvement but I agree something is off. I think it has to do with the clashing styles; you have a cartoon cell shaded character design mixed in with a more realistic looking background. It just doesn't mesh well.

Also, look at the hips.

Image

Legs don't bend like that, he's not an action figure.

That's more or less what it should look like.

Here's the thing with Sparking! backgrounds, upping the textures on the mountains isn't going to help, 'cause hey! Newsflash!
They're fucking boring.
Yeah, every now and then you get areas such as Freeza's ship, but it's never really gotten any better than that.
Lifeless barren areas with absolutely nothing going on. Desolate cities with no consequence of destroying any of the buildings. Going underwater is no different that going in there air, it's all the same shit over and over.

Hurr hurr! Rory you fool, Sparking! is trying to emulate the show, and that's all there is in the show!

Well inevitable response, just because Sparking! tries to incorporate the good things from Dragon Ball, doesn't mean it needs to bring in all the bad things from an 80/90's animated TV show.
Look at Super DBZ, fighting outside the Heaven/Hell checkout centre, there are spirits moving in the background, heck you can even Choazu, in the background, circling the arena. Or the generic field stage from Budokai 3, windmills in the background.. were they in the show? Nope! But it doesn't hurt to spice up the area with something interesting. If that wasn't enough, smash'em through a mountain and you'll get a nice cinematic with a dinosaur laying a smackdown their character.
Huge water falls (destroyed Archipelago), cars constantly moving and even hitting one if you get smacked out of the arena (West City), these things help make a stage look interesting, it almost makes the place seem alive, making it much more satisfying to destroy and reduce it to nothing but a (beautiful looking) wasteland (if you're a sadistic fuck like me that is).
These are the things that make stages better, if you've upped the texture quality on a few mountains and expect me to be impressed, you can fuck right off.

Now, where's that delicious Dimps cock, ahhh, there it is. Nom nom nom.

I see what you're saying but I give his movements a lot of lenience because his gi are quite baggy.

Yeah Goku's gi is quite baggy, I agree but check this shot out:

Image

Granted it's not the best shot in the world but it's the best I can do for comparison purposes. Look at the legs, even though the pants are baggy Goku's leg retains its normal shape and form(even though the pose is a bit of a stretch).

Realistically this sort of thing isn't that big of a deal in retrospect(especially since these poses are only supposes to last for a brief moments) but it is still annoying when you know the developers can do better.

I guess the developers don't create a skeletal structure for the characters so they articulate the points from the models themselves. I imagine this saves a lot of time.
Btw that is a cool snapshot there from Burst Limit 8)

Burst Limit likes using (Gaussian) blur effects it seems.

...and it's a low-res jpeg from IGN? :p
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I wasn't a huge fan of that "blur" stuff anyways, made things look too liquidy.

Sucks that it seems RB2 won't be getting that new animation WW was talking about.

How are they going to have a game with no cutscenes? Or does that mean just not in the middle of battles?

Infinite World had AMAZING cutscenes for a PS2 DBZ game, I'm sure they could step it up for this game since the graphics are better than the first.

One thing I dislike about the RB2 models...it looks like someone is shining a light on them from below. Anyone else see this?

Hm. Let me think. How can a game have cutscenes when Toei isn't doing animation for it?

In-game engine? Just a thought? Y'know, that thing they've done for pretty much every DB game for the past ten years or so?

I must say, the graphics in this game are awesome. A huge improvement over the first one.

There was a statement saying there would be no cutscenes and something.

To me Budokai 1 has the best cutscenes so far especially Goku turning SSJ against Freeza.
