What has Dragon Ball done for me? Easy.
Chased away some potential girlfriends. T_T
I keed, I keed. While that's partially true, I probably would have been miserable anyway if I couldn't be myself. Besides, I ended up with more meaningful relationships anyway since I didn't have to try and fit into anyone's box.
Aside from that, Dragon Ball was one of the inspirations to get into martial arts. I'd say a 1/4 inspiration.
It also turned my asshole ways around in highschool. I was a brat all throughout my childhood, but after being introduced to Goku, much like an enemy of his, I began to see the error of my ways and started striving to be a nicer better person. It's worked a little too well because now I save worms during a rainstorm, became a huge animal person, go waaaaaaay out of my way to help people I don't even know, and I can't stand it when the occasional drunken ass is being mean to a friend when we go out to the bar. Despite all that, like Yamcha or Tien, I'm happy with who I grew up into and I'd never go back to the spoiled brat I was as a little kid.
Oh, and Dragon Ball was my inspiration to spend endless amounts of money on it. T_T My wallet hurts...

Re: What has Dragonball done for you?
Dragonball taught me how to play chess with a Dragonball chess set.
In the end I did some math and it turned out the whole set had cost me around 170 euro's. (it was 340 guldens but nevermind)
And it got me out of my shell as a kid.
I went from silent boy in the corner to popular kid.
This was all because I finally had a way to make contact with other kids since Dragonball was the first (and last) hype I ever gotten in to.
So in short, it lead me to creating social skills, cost me money and gave me a fun way to spent my free time with.

Re: What has Dragonball done for you?
Dragonball introduced a lot to me in many areas.
In anime, it showed that the a show can be more than just senseless fighting to gain more power. It was story driven and brought a universal theme to me, and that was no matter what, if you pursue your dreams, you can become the best that you can be. Also it brought me to enjoy a wide range of anime, including such shows as Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho, Bleach, Detective Conan, Trigun, Paranoia Agent, Higurashi, Black Lagoon, and much much more.
In hobbies, it taught me to become artistic. My first time consuming drawing (and i have it framed in my room) was 9 years ago, and it was a picture of the Great Saiyaman that I took from the VHS Edited Release of the saga. I was 11 at the time, but since then I lost my ability to draw, but eventually that led to me learning Photoshop. So in a sense, Dragonball led me towards graphic design.
Finally, it made me friends with some good people. I've been an anime fan since 1996-1997 thanks to Sailor Moon. I got along with many crowds of people like the preps, cheerleaders, nerds, average guys, etc. but the people I hung with and still do enjoy a wide range of things like sports, Magic cards, videogames, but we all discuss anime quite often, and I'm the resident Dragonball officianado. So anime has gotten me good friends to be with, and made new ones in the process.
That's about it for me.

I think Tom Dubois of "The Boondocks" said it best for me when FUNimation announced the release of the domestic Dragonbox, after buying all of the Season Sets: "MOTHERFUCK!!! SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, PRICKS, SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIIIIIIIT!"
